Dear Sir or Madam
As a highly observant character with an ethos that; “Design is not a single object or dimension. Design is messy and
complex”. This is something that speaks with me as a person that finds design is so heavily integrated into everything I
do within my life I consider design to be the strongest influence which is something that I cannot switch off its
something instilled in me, my eyes pick up when things are visually not flowing or set out in the best way or if a garment
has a defect or is out of proportion. which is how I know I am Garment Technologist.
I have completed my Ba( Hons) in Garment Technology at Birmingham City University achieving a 2:1 during my time at
university I have gained a vast amount of knowledge in; Advanced pattern cutting, garment construction, knowledge of
seam classes and stitch types and industry finishes to
manually grading a garment and also digitally grading with Gerbers AccuMark, strong Computer-aided design skills
with Adobe suite, Sealing sample knowledge, the experience of attending Fit sessions, fabric knowledge and knowledge
and understanding of a variety of legal Testing requirements I feel this
well equips me into making the transition into my first job within the industry along with my flexibility and thirst for
knowledge.
Having previously worked within both customer-facing and administrative roles I have acquired a variety of different
skills to liaise and communicate with
individuals who may face barriers in terms of communicating whether it be through a language barrier when English is
not the client's native language.
Skills I feel will further aid my professional career as a Garment Technologist with strong written and verbal
communication being imperative to the role.
I feel both my passion along with my academic achievements, personable skills and commitment to working in a team
being someone who prides themselves on excellent customer service and strives to always put my best foot forward in
how I represent myself and any company I work for. Along with my readiness to delve into the fashion industry to
unpack all of my professional and academic skills and grow within my career being someone who is very pro-active,
resilient and thrives off overcoming a challenge makes me the ideal candidate for your position for a Garment
Technologist.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to review my application.
I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
Sincerely,
P H O N E
