GeneralIntroductionThankyouforyourinterestinEnglishasaSecondLanguageInternational(ESLI).Wearepleasedthatyouarecommittedtoprovidingyourclientswiththehigheststandardofsupport,andouraimistogiveyoutheinformationandsupportyouneedtoethicallyandresponsiblypromoteourprogramstoyourstudents.ESLIadherestotheStatementofEthicsforInternationalEducatorsasdescribedintheNAFSACodeofEthics,andouraimistoworkwithagents/consultantsandclientswhoshareourview.ESLIhasbeenhelpinginternationalstudentsachievetheirdreamofuniversitysuccessinNorthAmericaforover25years.WeareanacademicEnglishprogram,andstudentsonapathwaytouniversitystudiesarewellsuitedtoourprogram,althoughwedoacceptstudentsonlyneedingEnglishinstruction. 4. ToprovideouragentswithaclearexplanationoftheESLIManagementandRecruitingteam’sindividualresponsibilitiessoagentsknowwhotocontactwithspecificquestions.
5. Toguaranteethatresponses,whichincludeemailresponses,Skypecalls,webinars,andwebcasts,areaccurateandtimely.
6. Toconsistentlyvisitagentsandworkdirectlywiththemintheirpromotionalactivities,whichmayincludeagenttrainingvisits,seminars,fairs,andfamiliarizationcampusvisits.
7. Todevelopandupdateourpromotionalactivitiesandtheavailabilityofinformationtoreflectchangingmarketingtrends,includingdigitaluploads,socialmedia,andvideosharing.
8. Toprovideconsistentfeedbackwhenissuesandconcernsarisefromourschoolsand/ordirectlyfromstudentsregardingagencyactivitiesandservices.MoreseriousissuesinvolvingmisinformationorunethicalpracticeswillincludeawrittenreportfromESLIrequiringanofficialresponsefromtheagency.
9. Toselectivelysupportthemarketinginitiativesofouragentsandtoresponsiblyremunerateagentsforsuccessfulstudentrecruits.
10. Tomaintainthehighestethicalstandardsinrecruitment,education,andstudentsupport.

AdministrativeSupportandMarketingESLIunderstandsthatanagentcannotsuccessfullyprovideaccurateandup-to-dateinformationunlesstheagentreceivestheneededsupport.Webelievethateffectiveagentsupportrequires:
FrequentvisitsfromESLI’srecruitingteam:§ ESLIwillmakeeveryefforttovisitagentheadofficesandasmanybranchofficesas
possibleatleastonceperyear(wherebranchvisitsarenotpossible,ESLIwillrequestvideotrainingsessionsthroughESLIHeadquarters).

4. Toverifyand/orclarifyinformationwheneverthereisadiscrepancy.5. Toprovidethoroughtrainingforallnewcounselorstoensurethattheyareequippedto
properlydirectstudents.6. Toensurethatstudentsareequippedtomakethebestpossiblecourseselections.7. Toassiststudentsintheapplicationprocessandtomakeeveryefforttoensurethat
applicationsarecompleteandaccurateandarriveinatimelymanner.8. Toadheretopaymentdeadlinesfortuitionandfees.

9. Tofullydisclosewhatwillbechargedtostudents.FeedisclosureshouldincludeagencychargesaswellasfeesandtuitionschargedbyESLIandourpartners.Refundpoliciesshouldbetransparent,andrefundsshouldbereceivedbystudentswithinastateddeadline.

ReasonsforNon-RenewalAgencyagreementsmaybecancelledbyeitherpartywithpropernotice.AgentsmayalsodecidethattheynolongerwanttorepresentESLIandmayelectnottorenewtheirrecruitmentagreement.Similarly,ESLImaydecidenottorenewanagentagreementforoneormoreofthefollowingreasons:§ FailuretomeetstudenttargetsorminimumstudentapplicationsassetoutbyESLI§ Mergingorjoiningwithotheragencieswithwhomwealreadyhaveagencyagreements§ Significantchangestogovernmentpoliciesthatnegativelyimpacttheabilitytomarket
andrecruitinthatcountry§ Governmentchangesthataffectthestatus(agentregistration,licensing,etc.)ofa

ESLIwillnotifyanagentofquestionableactivitiesandwillprovideagentswithanopportunitytorespond.Agentswhoareshowntobeknowinglyandintentionallydishonestwillbeterminated.Agentswhounderstandthecomplaintandshowawillingnesstorectifythesituationmaycontinueonaprobationarybasis.

Section5:StructureandCurriculumOverviewAllclassesaredesignedtomeettheuniqueneedsofsecondlanguagelearnerswhowillenteraNorthAmericaninstitutionofhighereducation.StudentswhosuccessfullycompletetheESLIprogramwillnotberequiredtocompleteanIELTSorTOEFL.ESLIhasdevelopedacomprehensivecurriculumtoensurethatstudentswillfindsuccessintheiruniversitydegreeprogramsaftercompletingtheESLIprogram.Ourgraduatedsystemallowsstudentstobeevaluatedandplacedinalevelthatwillmeettheirneedsandchallengethemtoprogress.ESLIoffersautomaticPre-PlacementforstudentsthathavealreadycompletedanIELTSorTOEFLexam,buthavenotmetuniversityrequirements.SpecificinformationaboutPre-PlacementopportunitiescanbefoundinESLI’sAdmissionHandbook.ForstudentsthathavenottakenanIELTSorTOEFLexam,theESLIPlacementExamwillbeavailable.ThisexamwillbeadministeredduringOrientationWeek,generallythefirstweekofeachnewterm,andstudentswillbeplacedintheappropriateESLIlevelaccordingly.ESLIoffersfivelevelsofEnglishstudytointernationalstudents.Thefirsttwolevels,BasicandPreparatory,offerBasicEnglishtraining.ThefinalthreelevelsfocusmoreonacademicEnglish.WhenstudentscompletethePre-Universitylevel,theywillbeeligibleforfulladmissiontotheuniversity.ESLIUSA

AdmittedStudentsIfthestudentmeetstheuniversity’sadmissionrequirements,theuniversitywillissueaconditionalletterofacceptance(LOA).TheLOAisthenforwardedtotheESLIdirectorwhoissuestheI-20.Thefollowingprocessappliestoalladmittedstudents:

ReissueRequestsIfyourstudentisnotabletoattendtheintendedESLIsemester,thenyoucandeferattendancetoalatersemester.UnusedI-20sarecancelled30daysaftertheprogramstartdate.Therefore,I-20reissuerequestsshouldbemadebeforethecancellationdate.Otherwise,theI-20mayneedtobere-activatedbySEVP,aprocessthattakesseveraldays.1. 3. Aninvoiceandpaymentinstructionsforonesemesteroftuitionandfees(admissions
deposit)willbeincludedinthedigitaloffer.YourstudentmustmakefullpaymentbeforeanofficialLetterofAcceptance(LOA)willbeissuedandsent.YourstudentmustalsosignandsubmittheTWURefundPolicy,indicatingthathe/shehasreadandunderstoodthepaymentandrefundpolicyasitpertainstoTWU/ESLI.
