AFRICA POLITICAL DIVISION

Just over one billion people inhabit Africa, accounting for about 14 percent of the world's population. Africa is home to the Nile River system, the world's longest river system, and the Sahara Desert, the world's largest desert.

Africa borders the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Suez Canal and Red Sea along the Sinai Peninsula to the northeast, the Indian Ocean to the southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.

The African continent sits along the equator and extends across several climate zones , and is the only continent to stretch from the northern temperate zone to the southern temperate zone.

CLIMATE OF AFRICA

The climate of Africa ranges from tropical to subarctic on its highest peaks. Its northern half is primarily desert or arid, while its central and southern areas contain both savanna plains and very dense jungle (rainforest) regions. In between, there is a convergence where vegetation patterns such as Sahel, and steppe dominate. The movement of the Intertropical convergence zone, also known as the monsoon trough, creates a rainy season across central portions of the continent to the south of the Sahara. Tropical waves moving offshore Africa caused by the African easterly jet lead to many of the northern Atlantic's tropical cyclones annually. The Sahara desert is the hottest, driest and sunniest portion of Africa due to the prevailing presence of the subtropical ridge and because this desert has mainly a low elevation.

CLIMATE OF AFRICA

In the photo of above, you can see that the green place is a mediterranean clime, which are cold winters and hot summers.

The light brown area is the tropical are, which are predominated by wild jungles.

The yellow area is desertic area. Is the second most poor of all, predominating at the north of the continent, and a small part in the south.

The equatorial clime is similar to the Tropical, just that this is a wet clime with temperatures superiors of 27 degrees.

DEMOGRAPHY OF AFRICA Africa is now demonstrating an annual

growth rate of 3.0%, the highest on the planet. While the rest of the world's population is expected to increase by 60%, Africa's is expected to increase by 100%, doubling by the year 2025 to a projected total of 1.6 billion people. The major factor creating the high growth rate is the drop in death rates while the fertility rates remain high. Stress on the population has been related to urbanization which has increased since African countries attained independence in the 1960s. Employment opportunities in cities are inadequate and slum conditions have appeared around most major cities.

ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES OF AFRICA

Africa economy predominates of its mines.

Their most powerfulls export products is

mining of gold, diamonds, minerals and

nuclear related minerals. Their primaries

countries are:  Algeria, Equatorial Guinea,

Libya, and Nigeria, Botswana, Congo, Gabon,

New Guinea, and Sierra Leone.

MIGRATORY FLOWS OF AFRICA.

As you can see, the migratory flows in Africa start increasing in the 80’s, but as people come out, a lot of people come in, as you can see in 2010 Africa’s Soccer World Cup, a lot of the economy of the whole country started tho grow.

AFRICA RESOURCES

Has I said in the economic part, Africa biggest economic contribution are the stuff that they take from their mines, so, their primary resources are the minerals and solids they found on their mines. In the next page, I’ll show you a map were you can found the parts were their resources come from.

AFRICA COUNTRIES WATER CYCLE

Some of the countries in Africa are in extremly poor, but some others are getting to be a metropolis, they have the 3 differents waters cycles. I incluted the natural water cycle, because there’s a lot of countries who still have to go to the river instead of opening a key for getting water.

SIMILARITIES AND DIFERENCES

Africa and America are pretty different, even that Africa is a HUDGE continent, in some ways, America is way most develope, some countries from Africa are really poor (Such as Sierra Leone, Chad, etc) And here in America, we have one of the most powerful countries, USA. Another difference is that, in Africa, there is more people that migrates than the ones who immigrates, and here in America is the exact contrary.
