Military-The Afghan National Army (ANA) has not yet been tested by any major solo engagement

-No defense or production facilities operating in Afghanistan

-The ANA is entirely dependent on the goodwill of major donor states for equipment and training

-Warlords have maintained their private armies, which are, in total, far stronger than the ANA

Political system is closely centered around President Hamed Karzai, whose actions are becoming more erratic

The parliamentary system is frequently undermined by the president

-Parliamentary members are more interested with retaining personal power than building a functioning Nation

-Political stability regularly undermined by Terrorist, political squabbling, distrust between and within rival ethnic groups and severe economic problems.

-Corruption is widespread throught Afghanistan because of poverty

-Afghanistan is extremely poor, landlocked, and highly dependent on foreign aid, agriculture, and trade with neighboring countries.

-Opium supports the country of Afghanistan.

Afghanistan produces 92% of the world's opium.
