Origin of Television Advertisement

• 1941-The first television advertisement was broadcast in the united states of Bulova watches, company paid $9.00

• 1955- The First TV Ad broadcast in the UK was on ITV on 21 September 1955 advertising Gibbs SR toothpaste.

• 1978- Gwalior Suiting was the first television advertisement in India.

• India’s Advertising industry is expected to grow at a rate of 16.8 per cent year-on-year US$ 7.61 billion in 2016-17

• The TV advertising industry is projected to be the second fastest growing advertising market in Asia after China.

• TV advertisement industry is a part of repetition segment

• People must see an advertisement at least nine times before they will acquire enough interest to consider buying the product or service advertised

• Animation-Animated images are often used in television advertising so that more fantastic or impossible scenes can be used.

• Documentary- Documentary style adverts are used to suggest ‘real people’ who are using the product. They borrow from the trust we have in documentaries to ‘tell the truth’.
