Youtube- ad automatically plays within player on video page- warning and countdown: “Advertisment (0:11)”- progress bar in yellow- roll straight into content (TV style)

Hulu- User has choice of up-front ad or later ads- note in-line banner ad- inline ad, starts playing with countdown, number of ads, and a relevance question
Possible Slideshare Flow 1 (ad auto play)
1. Show standard slide 1 with title slide (too abrupt to launch straight into video)
2. User clicks forward. Video is shown on inserted extra slide (with clear heading and context thats its an ad). Video starts to auto-play. Forward functionality is disabled. After X seconds, user can skip rest of video, and/or go forward to next slide.
3. Either action - or watching video through - takes user to the real Slide 2.
4. If user watches entire video, a brief 1sec thankyou is shown.

2. User clicks forward. Show hulu-like video ad intro page. Forward functionality is disabled. Gives users following options: a) Play video ad to proceed b) Upgrade to Pro to see no ads
3. User clicks to play the ad. After X seconds, user can skip and/or go forward to next slide.

Open Questions/Notes
1. What to do with slideshow player controls when video ad playing? Hide? Grey out? Note - its important that user can go back if they decide in meantime they don’t want to view deck.
2. If user pauses video ad, we wait them out. In Youtube, the user has to restart in order to see main content.
3. Do we need to show title slide first? Yes, if that is their landing page. If we launch straight from a thumbnail on homepage, could we show ad first before the title slide. This may be less disruptive.
4. Video slide is scrolled from top/bottom to differentiate from regular slides.
