The Master of the universe reigned
before anything was created.
When all was made by God’s will
Was then acknowledged as Ruler.

BIG Idea – God is the Master!
Adon Olam has been in Jewish prayers services for at least 500 years! We are not
sure who exactly wrote this prayer. Some people say Solomon Eben Gvirol wrote it in
the 11th century. Others believe it was written even before that. Either way – it has
been part of our services for hundreds of years.
The word Adon means Master.
The word Olam, has several translations:
- Eternal, or everlasting
- World or universe
