REASON FOR APPLYING FOR EXTENSION OF EC VALIDITY

Sub: Regarding Extension of validity of Environmental Clearance for 2640 MW (4x660 MW) Coal based Thermal Power Plant at Notified Dahej Industrial area (GIDC) near village Suva, in Vagra Taluka, Bharuch District, Gujarat. Ref. No.- Environment Clearance letter no J13012/39/2009-IA.II (T) dated

25.10.2011.

Adani Power Dahej Ltd. (APDL), a wholly owned company of Adani Power Limited, is

developing 2640 (4x660) MW Coal-based Supercritical Thermal Power Plant at Suva

Village, Vagra Taluka, Bharuch District in Gujarat.

The project site is located in GIDC, Dahej near village Suva, Taluka Vagra, Bharuch

District in Gujarat. The power plant is based on supercritical, energy efficient &

environment friendly technology.

APDL has been granted Environmental Clearances, CRZ Clearance & Consent to

Establish from Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Gujarat

Pollution Control Board and APDL also obtained all necessary statutory / mandatory

clearance respectively. Land is already in our possession.

However, the construction of Thermal Power Plant could not be started in the absence of

Power Purchase Agreement and Financial Closure. Adani Power Dahej Limited would like to

implement this project, once the PPA is signed and the Financial Closure achieved. Power

Purchase Agreement could not be tied up for sale of Power which is one of the main

reasons why construction activities of power plant have not been initiated.

APDL has completed infrastructure development and enabling works for the Power Plant,

such as Boundary Wall, Area leveling, Stores, STP, Transmission line ROW/ROU for

construction power network, Offices and Erectors’ Hostel. We are enclosing herewith some

of the photographs on present status.

Recently, with the New Power Policy in place and the GOI taking initiatives in the

power sector to ensure “24x7 Power for all, we are hopeful to develop this power

plant soon

In view of above, we request to kindly consider our case and grant us extension of

validity of the Environmental Clearance for further five years.
