X. Opportunities for doing

y  A. Simpler to Complex

- The grading of the craf t could be increased f romsimple to complex by lengthening more the o

object/y arn (i.e., make an i.d. lace or a belt)

y B. Complex to Simpler

- The grading of the craf t could be made simple tocomplex by making a sorter length of object out of  the macramé/ making a simpler routine of macramémaking.

XII. Sensory motor aspectsy A. Sensory  awareness/processing

1. Does the craf t stimulate the v isual system? How? Y es, because in doing this craf t you need your eyes to look

at the strings if they are in the right position and to check if youare ding the right pattern. While doing this craf t you need todistinguish the color and distancing of the strings just by looking at it.

2. Is the auditory system stimulated by this craf t? How?No.

3. Does the craf t process stimulate the olfactory system? How?No.

4. Does the gustatory system recei ve stimulation? How?No.

Page 18: Activity Analysis by OH Group

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/activity-analysis-by-oh-group 18/38

XII. Sensory motor aspects5. What tactile invol vement is required?

Y ou need your fingers to do the lacing of thestrings.  Y ou must be able to f eel the pattern if  it is inits correct tightness. In starting this craf t you must alsobe able to do simple loops and at the end of this craf tas well.

6. Is proprioception/kinesthesia/orientation of the

body in space invol ved in this acti v ity? How? Y es, so that you ma y be able to start the craf t.  Y ou

need to know the proper orientation of your body sothat you can f ocus perf ectl y in lacing the strings.

Page 19: Activity Analysis by OH Group

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/activity-analysis-by-oh-group 19/38

XII. Sensory motor aspects

7. Does the craf t invol ve vestibular/equilibriumstimulation? How?

Y es, you need balance while doing this craf t especiall y  when you are doing longer patterns like f or lany ards and

belts.  Y ou must use balance so that you ma y finish the craf tperf ectl y and while you doing this you retain f oucs.

8. Is temperature a wareness necessary in order to do this

acti v ity? When? Y es, you must choose a room perf ect f or your

pref erence, it ma y be a well ventilated room or in a coldplace so that you ma y f ocus perf ectl y.

Page 20: Activity Analysis by OH Group

XII. Sensory motor aspects

y B. Sensory  perceptual skills1. Is stereognosis, knowing be f eel, necessary during thisprocess? When?

Y es, because this craf t invol ves tactile, you must know

diff erent things just by f eeling it. Y

ou must know just by f eel if the distances of the laces are correct.  Y ou must alsobe able to distinguish by f eel if your craf t is loose or tightaccording to your pref erence.

Is a wareness of body scheme or position of the body inspace essential in this acti v ity? When?

Y es, so that you ma y finish the craf t.  Y ou need to know your position in space so that you ma y f ocus and bring  yourself together in doing this craf t.

Page 21: Activity Analysis by OH Group

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/activity-analysis-by-oh-group 21/38

XII. Sensory motor aspects3. Does the patient need to discriminate the right f rom thelef t side in this craf t? When?

Y es, especiall y while doing this craf t. Because thisrequires the correct lacing, you must know lef t and right sothat you ma y arri ve at the right pattern. Distinguishing lef t

and right is also important in this craf t because you needknow how to loop so that you ma y start and finish thiscraf t.

4. Is it necessary to be able to distinguish whether f orms,

shapes and space are the same? When? Y es, so that you ma y ha ve a good looking bracelet, lany ard or belt.  Y ou need to see if  it has the right pattern, tightness, f orm and shape. In doing this craf t you mustha ve a consistent tightness so that it ma y look pleasing.

XII. Sensory motor aspects

5. W ill it be necessary f or the patient to distinguish a figure or object f rom its background?

No.

6. W ill the patient be required to use depth perceptionto do this task? Explain.

Y es, because you need to know if the distance of  the laces are correct.  Y ou should ha ve the ability tomove your laces accuratel y in its right position.
