The Centro Universitario Francisco de Vitoria was inaugurated 25 years ago with four degree courses: Law, Economics, Business Administration and Journalism. At the closing ceremony of that first year 1993/1994, the director of the Centre, José Manuel Garcia Ramos, began his speech dedicating a few words of thanks to the 44 professors, 42 administrative and services personnel and the 372 students who put their faith in the educational project.

Similarly, 25 years later, I give thanks to God who called us to this task, the Regnum Christi and the Legion of Christ, to all those who form a part of the University Community (977 professors, 160 mentors and 496 administrative and services personnel) and all the people who during these years have put their faith in us and helped us to become what we are today. To all we give our thanks and to all the University owes a great debt of gratitude.

The pillars on which the Centro Universitario Francisco de Vitoria was established remain intact at the UFV: academic excellence, technical and humanistic education, internationalisation and personal engagement. This is an educational project centred on the person with the goal of providing students not only with skillsand knowledge, but as an integral person, transmitting values and attitudes that will make them individuals able to understand science

and their profession as a responsibility in service of society; preparing them not only to practice a profession but to live a full life. After these first 25 years, the best way to celebrate the achievements of the past is to face the challenges of the future and see what we must do to serve society better. We must understand the keys which add more human value to the vast changes taking place in the world we live in, and practice them in the manner fitting of an institution of higher learning: hand in hand with science and with a profound faith in the human being and the aspiration to meaning and fulfilment present in all men and women for all time.

This is our challenge and our commitment for the coming years.

Mission and Vision VisionMission To create a university community of people seeking the truth and goodness and who, with their leadership and education, can promote a Christian transformation of our society and culture.

Identity

We are an open and international University of Catholic inspiration.

ı Of Catholic inspiration. With the most absolute respect for the individual freedom of each of our students and professors, our educational model is inspired by the values of Christian humanism, principally with the ethical practice of the profession, personal integrity and social commitment.

ı This is also a University open to people and knowledge. It is open to all people without any limitations due to cultural background, social position or economic status. The UFV is a meeting point, open to knowledge, to new technologies, to science and research, culture and change.

ı This is an international university that is committed to educate its students for the globalised world in which they will live.

Values are the basis of all actions of the Francisco de Vitoria University , as these are implicit in the development of the person.

ı Spirit of Community: each person is the face of their community. In turn, everything we do is oriented to achieve the common good that sustains every member of the UFV community and that takes precedence over the satisfaction of individual interests.

ı Vocation of service: to adopt a permanent attitude of cooperation with others, which in turn encompasses the values of humility, honesty, excellence and selflessness.

ı Contagious ethic of hard work: always remembering why and for whom we work, and the value of our labour before God, for ot hers and for ourselves.

Values

Motto

The moto of the Francisco de Vitoria University is:

These words are taken from Saint Paul's Epistle to the Romans:

«Noli vinci a malo, sed vince in bono malum»(Rm 12, 21)

This motto reflects the aspiration of the entire university community to change the attitude of a society, proposing to overcome the evil of ignorance with the good of science; the evil of egotistical materialism with the good of Christian humanism; the evil of indifference with the good of the search for truth.

«Vince in bono malum» «Overcome evil with good»

Mission and Vision Vision To be a leading university in the sciences and professions centred on the person.

Altius Francisco de Vitoria Foundation

This is the Foundation of the UFV and a complement to its mission in the development of projects to promote social actions in favour of the most vulnerable in our society. The Foundation works to support individuals and families at risk of social exclusion due to unemployment, improving their social conditions and job skills to enter the labour market. Another of the Foundation's activities is the «1 Kilo of Help» program which, for over 18 years, has been channelling the help of people who purchase one of their donation cards in supermarkets throughout Spain. The UFV collaborates with the Altius Foundation through various initiatives, especially the "Solidarity Pay" for employees who wish to give their support to projects of the Foundation.

Founded in 2014, the International Business School of the Francisco de Vitoria University is an institution that seeks the direct application of the skills, abilities and know-how acquired in training to the working twhoerld palancdement of students in multinational companies.

It offers an educational experience that is both authentic and transformative, providing excellent training that is practical, innovative and socially responsible. Students at the UFV International Business School acquire the skills necessary to become agents of change within the organisations they work or manage in a socially responsible manner.

The UFV International Business School uses, among others, interactive methodologies such as simulators, recognised as among the most effective ways to develop new skills, change attitudes, reinforce knowledge and make

an impact in the workplace and in society.

The principal goal and value proposition of the UFV International Business School is to train a new generation of professionals and executives, helping students to "reinvent" themselves.

After a fruitful collaboration with ADEN International Business School over the last five years, this has now been renamed the UFV International Business School, and as of this academic year is incorporated into the Postgraduate and Vocational School of the University.
