Open Access model not strong in Journals servicing ‘Food, Farming, Environment’
OpenFields available to 25 Landbased Colleges and Lantra SSC as a repository for technical and Open Learning materials. Small subscription proposed. Landex College Consortium approval, but each College needs funds to collate and assure materials .
Edina-hosted LLL index being unsupported by Aberystwyth from summer 2010. Some distress among ALLCU/Landex Librarians
IntuteAgriculture, Food , ForestryPotential for cross-searchingOur DOI/OFI system helpful
BBRSC support PubMedCentral as part of funder’s group led by Wellcome. Proposal put to them to support OpenFields research collection in similar way, with Defra. NERC NORA. Well-run e-prints research
papers repository for their 4 Research Institutes.. and others? SWORD potential?
Levy Companies have agreed to aggregate 100s of technical materials into OpenFields. Strong support from Chief Scientist, Prof Ian Crute
Trade press wary because of perceived competition as a knowledge service
Scottish Agricultural College paid by Scottish Govt to write Technical Notes. Good source, but not collaborative. ADAS now private. OpenFields aimed at the ‘ADAS Gap’. People understand…
PLCs: Good technical notes with a commercial bias. We are considering offering to host them for a fee, with items open to user comments
Biosciences KTNObvious partner, TSB funded, but ‘early days’..?
Public Sector:DEFRA website hosts 1000s technical notes and research papers, but is un-navigable Business Link. Some interest.Environment Agency, HSE, Natural England , Forestry Commission supportive.
