As another school year winds to a close, I’d like to take a minute to reflect on our accomplishments and wish our graduat-ing seniors well. From our 6th graders who now sound like real musicians to our seniors with their lives opening up before them, all of your band students have been working diligently this year. Our High School band came home with Sweep-stakes honors in both the Marching Contest at Gid-dings and the Concert & Sight Reading Contest in Caldwell. Liberty Hill was also well represented at Region Band: 32 Junior High and 28 High School students made it to Region. Several made it to Area, and Garrett Maples made it all the way to the All-State band. Many students competed in Solo & Ensemble with 13 High School musicians going all the way to State at the end of May. The Band Booster organization is in place to sup-port the continued success of the instrumental mu-sic programs of LHISD. We want to especially thank our business membership sponsors:* Liberty Hill Orthodontics* Smokey Mo’s* Action Propane* P&R Butane* Wag-A-Bag* Copper Ridge Dental (Mark Kupec DDS)* The Cross Family The success of our organization is directly correlated to the community’s active participation. We sincerely appreciate your help and involvement throughout the year at our various events, and we thank you for supporting our fundraising ef-

forts. This year we were able to support the band program in a variety of ways including these:* College scholarships for graduating seniors* Drum Major Camp

* “Wicked” marching show shirts for all high school marching band members* Summer band thermoses for freshmen and other supplies* Band locker locks* $25,000 in new instruments – Timpani, a vibra-phone, a euphonium, a French horn, a bari sax, two tubas. In closing, thank you for encouraging the contin-ued growth of the band program. Research has shown that students who study music perform bet-ter in other aspects of their education. Students of the arts are more successful on standardized tests, but more importantly they become problem solvers and creative thinkers. Music study enhances team-work skills, self-discipline, and communication; stu-dents learn the value of sustained effort to achieve excellence.

With appreciation for your continued support,Robin Lingren
