top European Pattern Makers. Once your measurements have been taken, our expert Tailors work on bringing your garments to life through the age-old tailoring process, with a high-tech twist, including world leading Gerber Technology that results in an undeniably precise cut.

All InStitchu garments are made to measure to your specific measurements and design—the end result being a garment that is one-of-a-kind. With the exception of wedding orders, once your garment has been meticulously crafted, your order will be delivered direct to your door or to our Showroom within 3-4 weeks.

Throughout your years, you are going to meet some men who love to play sport, others that play golf, some that smoke cigars, some who had their growth spurt at age thirteen, and others that never had a growth spurt at all—all in all, in your long and hopefully wonderful life, you are going to encounter men of different lifestyles, genetics, and resultantly—body shapes.

From George Street to Wall Street, there are several style crimes that these men can commit—amongst bad dress shoes, jeans at the gym, and the dreaded combination of a tie and a casual shirt, an ill-fitted suit is amongst the top of the list. Think of a suit as the ultimate tool to accentuate your assets—a custom, tailored, made to measure suit that highlights your best features is essential in standing out amongst the crowd, a feat that is not always easy to achieve given all the fish in the sea. The beauty of a custom, tailored, made-to- measure suit however, is that you can create a suit that best accentuates your assets, no matter your size or body type. Here is our guide to finding the suit for your shape.

FOR THE SHORTER MANIf you’re on the shorter side, that’s not a worry, there are some tricks of the trade if you wish to work with the magic of optical illusion. We recommend sticking to a two button jacket in order to elongate your torso, and wearing a single colour (matching jacket and pants) to help lengthen your body. Another tip—a tapered trouser with a neat cut and worn slightly higher on the hips can add length to the legs. Avoid belts, long jackets, drop crotches and wearing a suit as separates.

FOR THE TALLER MANTo avoid looking like you outgrew your suit, avoid cropped jackets and pants, we also recommend avoiding oversized, padded shoulders that will swallow you up and diminish your build. Lighter colours add width to a narrow frame, as does a double-breasted jacket. Avoid wearing extra slim ties—ties with width won’t appear to elongate an already long torso.

No matter if you wear a suit on the daily, or only bring them out of your wardrobe for weddings, a suit is there to highlight your best assets and positively accentuate all the features of your body that make you, you. THE ATHLETIC MANFor the men who have been hitting the gym, or have that naturally athletic build, please avoid wearing peak lapels—there is no need to accentuate an already broad chest and shoulder area. Aim to strike the right balance between a tapered waist and the correct fit across broader shoulders. Due to your already muscular and bulkier build, opt for a custom, tailored suit with soft, natural shoulders.

FOR THE LARGER MANOne key rule—please avoid wearing an oversized suit, you need to look slimmer, and also sleek—roomy is not sleek. Instead, opt for a custom, tailored, made-to- measure, two button suit that will highlight your shoulders and lengthen your torso, immediately helping you to look slimmer. Please also avoid wearing plaid or check shirts—simple, block colours are the way to go.

Bin Your Belts—The Future Is The

Side Tab

Like pen with paper, Champagne with celebrations, tacos with Tuesdays, the belt has iconically been paired with pants throughout fashion’s history. However, what does wearing a belt essentially mean? Wearing a belt means adding an extra accessory to your outfit—unlike the clean pocket square or the helpful cufflinks, the belt is a high maintenance accessory that does not always behave itself. A day in the life of a belt wearer requires tightening, unbuckling, consistently feeding a prong through a loop, the digging of leather into the stomach, and often the unsightly look of your waistband gathering and folding if your pants are on the looser side. This would all be worth it if the belt played a part in accentuating your assets, however, for the George Costanzas of this world, the belt can break up the body and make them look even shorter.

This is where we introduce the Side Tab—gentlemen, there’s no longer a need to pull up your pants. Side tabs are the alternative

to belts and belt loops on a pair of pants. Instead of feeding a belt through your pants to keep your pants in place throughout the day, side tabs sewn onto the pants are a simple way of adjusting the tightness as your waist may fluctuate and inflate throughout the day. Side tabs can come in the style of buckles or button tabs, working in a pulling system, where the strap can be pulled and the waistband can tighten. So why else are we fervidly telling you to bin your belts and swap them for these little slabs of heaven?

SIMPLE & SWIFT IS THE WAY TO GOIf you ever choose to wear a belt, this should be an accessory, not a necessity. A pair of pants that are custom and tailor-made to fit should sit on the waist comfortably, without the need for a ‘pull up’. This should be the same case for side tabs—customise your tailored pants so that the side tabs are simply an addition to tighten the waist when needed. Unlike the tedious process of manouevering a belt however, the side tab simply requires a swift pull to the side to tighten the waist. Drank too much water so that you’re running to the bathroom every ten minutes? The side tab will simplify the process of pulling the pants on and off.

BLENDING OVER BELTINGLet’s be honest here—the belt is an accessory that can appear chunky, old-school and when worn for an extended amount of months or years, crinkled through the need to constantly bend and feed it through your belt loops.

Side tabs however, are conveniently sewn in as a part of your pants, blending in with the material, and adding a clean and crisp touch to your pants. When creating a custom, tailored pair of pants, side tabs are a simple and subtle addition, as they are made with the same fabric as your pants. Whether you choose to tighten or release your pants, there will no longer be gatherings at the waist—your pants will neatly tighten with a simple pull.

The last thing you want in a stylish outfit is an old-school belt—gone are the days

when you need to add this old-fashioned accessory to keep your pants from falling.

When researching for this educational piece, we tried to find a scientific, statistical backing as to how many times a man undoes his pants during the day—we were unfortunately unsuccessful, however through our own knowledge, experience and market research (amongst the team), the answer is...a lot. It’s therefore time to bin your belts and swap them in for side tabs— a more swift, subtle, simple alternative in keeping your pants up—the battle of the buckle is officially over.
