Celebrate Women's History month and women's roles in the food movement at this Sacramento FoodFilm Festival 2015 screening of Terra Firma. The film follows three female veterans as theytransition back into civilian life, finding solace in farming which gives them a new way to serve theircountry by growing food for their communities.

Food Literacy Center's Sacramento Food Film Festival has partnered with the Sacramento PublicLibrary, the California State Library, Farm to Fork, UC Davis, The World Food Center, theSacramento Food System Collaborative, and the California Commission on the Status of Women tocelebrate female veterans and farmers with a night of camaraderie and discussion.

The reception feature appetizers made by female chefs with beverages provided by female brewers,wine makers and coffee roasters. The screening of Terra Firma will begin shortly after 6 pm. Enjoyappetizers from Hot Italian drinks from local female chefs at the reception before the film. Stay for apanel discussion with a star of the film, Sonia Kendrick and Kelly Carlisle of ANV Farms, a localfemale veteran farmer following the film. Guests will include many of the women who have beenlisted in Sacramento by Girls on the Grid as leading the farm-to-fork movement.

4. Southside Park Egg Hunt

Join Councilmember Steve Hansen's office for some Spring fun at the District 4 Southside ParkEaster Egg Hunt. You'll enjoy festive carnival games, face painting, Peter Cottontail, and, of course,candy-filled Easter eggs. You won't want to miss out on all the family fun!

6. 15th Annual César Chávez Celebration

Marguerite Montgomery Elementary School- 1441 Danbury St, Davis, CA 95616

Tuesday, March 31st

Time: 6p-9p

This year's program will be focused around the theme of justice, to align with the City of Davis'declaration of 2015 as the "Year of Justice," and will feature information and speakers related to thetopic. In addition to the discussion, there will be a resource fair showcasing local and regionalorganizations, including the Yolo Interfaith Immigration Network and the City of Davis PoliceDepartment, among others. The Chavez event will also feature entertainment including Danzantesdel Alma de UC Davis, a Mexican folklorico dance troupe, and a local mariachi band.

The event commemorates the anniversary of César Chávez's birthday. Chavez spoke at rallies inDavis' Central Park during the tomato growers' strikes in the 1970s. One Chavez rally in Davis onAugust 11, 1974 was reported to draw over 2,000 people.
