After extensive surveying and conversation with Charlotte Ballet Academy parents and dancers, the Academy is thrilled to implement an updated dress code for the 2019/2020 School Year. By partnering with the Eurotard brand, the dress code will offer high quality, reasonably priced dancewear for our Academy families. A summary of dress code items can be found on the Parent Portal and you will find more details about your child’s ballet Division on the reverse side of this sheet. Additional dress code items for Jazz, Modern, and Character classes are listed on Eurotard’s Charlotte Ballet Academy page. Families have the option of purchasing dress code items at our local retail partners (M-Azing Dancewear, Morris Costumes, The Sock Basket or Lebos.) You can also order through the Eurotard and Wear Moi sites, participating retailer and have the items shipped to you or pick them up in store. Shipping of Wear Moi leotards may take longer than expected so please purchase your Wear Moi leotards early! Questions? Don’t hesitate to contact Academy Artistic Coordinator Kati Hanlon Mayo at 704.372.0101 or [email protected]. CHARLOTTE BALLET ACADEMY ® 2019/2020 DRESS CODE “Our dress code provides options and gives dancers the opportunity to align their tights and shoes to their skin tone. Details from the top of the head to the end of the toe are paramount in ballet and these changes will better reflect the dancers’ whole bodies. This is an exciting reflection of how ballet can embrace more than one tone or archetype.” -Ayisha McMillan Cravotta, Academy Director I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO BRINGING OUR CONVERSATIONS WITH PARENTS AND STUDENTS TO FRUITION WITH NEW LEOTARD, TIGHTS AND SHOE COLORS THAT REALLY HIGHLIGHT THE ACADEMY’S PROFESSIONAL AESTHETIC AND DEDICATION TO TRAINING EXCELLENCE, WHILE NICELY SUITING OUR DANCERS. –Kati Hanlon Mayo Academy Artistic Coordinator “ “ Photo by Jeff Cravotta New to the 2019/2020 year new leos and colors! Students in Ballet 3, 4, and 5 will have a new uniform leotard! Faustine by Wear Moi. Not only does it look great but the straps do not slip off providing students the support they need to dance to their fullest with confidence. HAIR
A student's hair for ballet class is just as important as the leotard and tights that a dancer wears for class. Proper hair in
class is part of a student's uniform and should be done everyday for class, rehearsals, and performances.
It is the responsibility of the student and the student's parents to ensure that hair is ready for class. Just as students arrive dressed for class so should their hair be ready as well.
BOYSGIRLS
Hair should be neatly pulled away from the face
Styles: bun
french twist
any style without loose ends. Hair shorter than the length
needed for a bun or twist should be secured with a headband
Hair should be neatly styled away from the face
Boys with long hair should tie it back in a low pony tail
