Top spot in the heifers went to RJ Cornall & Partners with a pair of Limx to £910, S & E Wilkinson with AAx to £800, JM Harrison also with AAx to £750, DP & KM Gornall with AAx to £700, BBx to J Aspinall & Son with BBx to £685 to mention a few. All Cattle being sold as farm assured must have been on a farm assured holding for 90 days. All vendors who are on a 1yr TB Test MUST check and highlight ear numbers on their Test Certificates prior to coming to the market to make sure the relevant animal/s are on the certificate

507 Sheep - including Ewes 9.00am – Auctioneer: James Fish
Lambs A similar show forward this week which was to be expected following settled weather, but trade improved.
Buyers wanting them this week. Averages settled at 172.25p/kg which is up on the week.
Overall top spot going to a Heavy weight texels from J Pennington to £87, and others to £84, Texels from
JA&EA Burrows to £82, WA&LM Jenkinson with Texels to £81, Texels from H&E Carr and Sons to £80, Texels
from ME&J Swarbrick to £79, AB&J Parkinson with Texels to £78.50, G Hilton, PF Lee and DC Miller to £78 and
plenty of other around the mid to high £70s.
Top Price per kilo went to a pen of Texel lambs from C Mullin with light weight Texels to 188p/kg, followed by
more light weights from JE Harrison to 187p/kg, LN Harrison with Texels to 181p/kg, more shop weight lambs
to 180p/kg from ME&J Swarbrick and M&J Ronson, F&JM Kelsall with Texels to 179p/kg, MB Flatman, C Mullin
and J Miller to 177p/kg, and plenty of others over the 170-175p/kg bracket.
Ewes(80) - Auctioneer : James Fish
Well fleshed Ewes met keen demand, plainer ewes a touch harder to place.
Top spot to WA&LM Jenkinson with a good run of Texels Ewes topping at £93 followed by more from the same
good home to £92, and £90, JE Harrison with Texels to £83, RJ Byron with Texels to £78 and £77, Tups from
WA&LM Jenkinson to £90, £87 and £86, Suffolk from DC Miller to £76 and a Blue Faced Leicester from the
same home to £75. This weeks ewes and tups averaged £59.89/head slightly down on last week.

An good show of mainly beef bred calves which met a very brisk trade from a ringside of farmer buyers
who were also looking to purchase the best B & W bull calves.
Bulls topped today at British Blues from W Crook to £360, followed by TE&PW Eckersley to £290,
Thompson Bros with Blues to £260, and smaller sorts from AJ Knowles to £205 and £200, Herefords from
Thompson Bros £308, and another from the same good home to £290, as ever Aberdeen Angus in demand
from DP&KM Gornall to £275 x2 and £270 and £255, smaller calves from J Rowe to £240, Montbeliardes
from AJ Knowles to £230 and £205, DW&S Clarke and Son to £190 and £145. Beef Shorthorns from VJ
Massey to £235.
Hfrs British Blues topped at £275 from T D & V Whitaker, followed by GJ Dugdale and Sons to £270, TE&P
Eckersley to £265, GJ Dugdale to £225, Beef Shorthorn to £235, Aberdeen Angus from TD&V Whittaker to
£260, Herefords from PJ&MR Stuart to £165 and £160.
Black and Whites a good show of rearing calves forward today topping at £105 from TD&V Whittaker,
WA&M Eccles and Son to £88, Carron Lodge to £80, BW&J Robinson to £80, AJ Knowles to £75, beating the
collection centres and on farm buyers hands down this week.
