1. Galley layout 2. Galley Electrical power 3. Galley Chiller 4. Galley Water systems 5. Galley Waste system 6. Galley Non-normal operations 7. Galley Equipment • Steam Ovens • Hot Water Boilers • Trash Compactors • Bun Warmers
The objectives of today’s lesson is to highlight to you the galley, systems and galley equipment onboard Scoot’s 787 Aircraft.
1
Galley Locations
2
Galley (FWD) Galleys (Typical) • Note: Galley illustrations are shown to represent typical installations and
features and do not reflect actual configuration and equipment installed
3
Galley (FWD)
4
Galley (AFT)
5
Galley Assist Steps
• Vertical assist handles and assist steps are installed in selected galleys
• Help crew access the higher compartments
• The assist step is stowed in the galley structure.
• The assist step is released and deployed by hand. Return to stowed position after use.
6
Galley Container Retrieval System
• Some galleys have compartments which can hold two containers with one in front and one behind.
• Access to the rear container by pulling a spring-loaded belt at the bottom of the compartment
• An intermediate turn retainer knob is used to secure the rear container in place
7
Galley Electrical Power Control
• Located in most galleys • The switch is covered with a red guard • With the red guard closed, the switch is in
the NORMAL(on) position. • When there is an emergency, the red guard
should be lifted and the toggle switch placed to the OFF position. This removes all electrical power to the galley.
8
Galley Refrigeration Control Panel
• Galley chillers can be controlled by Galley Refrigeration Control Panel or Boeing system (Galley Chillers CAP screen )
• Control panel (Left) control and indicate an individual galley cooling system
• Select ON to turn on
Where is this?

Galley Water System
• Potable water is supplied to galley sinks and various galley inserts (ie., coffeemakers, water boilers, steam ovens, etc.).
• The quantity of potable water may be verified on the cabin services system POTABLE WATER display
• Galley Water Shut Off - shut off the flow of water to the entire galley
In some galleys, the shutoff valve selector may be located be behind a cart or door. Access location will be placarded.
12
Galley Waste System
1. Galley sink waste water is drained to one of two waste tanks on the airplane • To prevent sink drain blockages: - Do not put solid waste like coffee grounds, tea bags, fruit pulp (Minute Maid and Coconut juice),in the sink drain - Put solid waste in the galley waste bins - Do not remove the sink drain strainer
Dilute Mixtures, which can curdle and create a drain blockage ( I don’t think we have the above and can remove?)
What is sink drain strainer?
13
2. Galley Waste Disposal Unit (GWDU) is mounted on a galley counter top and allows for disposal of liquids and small solids • GWDU is activated by manually pressing the flush switch with the lid closed • A 2nd flush operation is started after 15 seconds since the 1st flush

14
Galley (Non Normal Operations) • If the water cannot be turned off in any of the galley fixtures (sink water faucet, coffee maker, or water boiler) the water system for that galley must be shut off.
• Posi>on the galley WATER SHUTOFF VALVE selector to CLOSE.
• If a sink drain is blocked, or drainage is slow, a vacuum can be applied to the drain to clear the blockage
15
Galley (Non Normal Operations) If the sink drain becomes clogged, crew can ac>vate: 1) Clog Clearing Valve Use the clog removal feature to aJempt to remove drain blockages: 1. posi>on the clog removal valve handle to the closed posi>on. 2. while the clog removal valve is closed, press and release the Gray Water Interface Valve (GWIV) MANUAL OVERRIDE switch.
2) and depress the "Manual GWIV" switch on the Galley Electrical Panel
16
Galley (Non Normal Operations) Galley Emergency Power Off Switch • Galley electrical power should immediately be shut off for malfunc>ons such as fire, smoke, electrical arcing, etc. • LiF the guard and posiGon the switch to OFF Note: When placing the galley POWER CONTROL switch to the OFF posiGon, noGfy the flight deck.
Galley Chiller "TOO WARM" Fault IndicaGons • A chiller may display a TOO WARM fault indica>on on the galley electrical panel (flashing red FAULT light) and the cabin aJendant panel (GALLEY CHILLERS screen flashing amber chiller icon) • Check that all carts are in the proper loca>on and check that each cart is properly stowed Note: If the fault was caused by an improperly stowed or misplaced cart, the fault will clear aFer temperature returns to normal
1. GALLEY CHILLERS screen (flashing amber chiller icon) due to a problem with the position of galley carts. This fault may be caused when a refrigerated cart is not properly stowed or if a non-refrigerated cart is placed in a refrigerated cart location.
I think we use the same type of
carts for refrigerated and non-‐refrigerated cart? Hence will the above s>ll apply?
This fault may be caused by a problem with the position of galley carts or a refrigerated cart is not properly stowed or if a non-refrigerated cart is placed in a refrigerated cart location.
17
Galley (Non Normal Operations) No Water in Galleys If potable water is not available at galleys: 1) select WATER/WASTE TANK STATUS screen on a cabin aJendant panel 2) select POTABLE WATER STATUS sub-‐menu screen 3) check the Liters Remaining in the water tanks. 4) If there is water in the tanks, push the WATER PUMP RESET soa key to aJempt to return the water system to normal opera>on
