Dear Friends,
We sincerely thank Father Mike, Bob Gallagher and all of you for
giving us a wonderful opportunity to share about our mission work
in India. We thank you on behalf of the chil-dren and the elderly
that we serve. We express our deep gratitude for sharing your
abundant blessings with our min-istry in India. We had a wonderful
visit. All of you can truly take pride in the way you share in the
compassionate mis-sion of this wonderful organization. Your
continued prayers and support will mean a lot and we are ever
grateful to you. Your kindness will be remembered always. May God
bless you all. Please visit our website for more details:

Kindly continue to pray for us.

Foundation for Children in Need
This weekend I say good bye to my year long assign-ment as the
interim pastor at St Margaret Mary parish on 92nd and Capital. They
got a new priest! I actually enjoy the interim work and expect
there may be more of this interim work in my "senior" priest
years--helping parish-ioners get ready for a change of guard. Some
parishes need dramatic, radical change--as the interim pastor, I am
not often popular but essential in the process is iden-tifying
those who are able to assist in the process. Per-haps you already
know that our associate, Bob Gal-lagher, will remain temporarily as
the worship coordina-tor there--to make sure all the masses are
supported with music. Also, our business manager, Laura Koppa, has
assisted there to keep salaries and bills paid. It does take a
village.
Two other issues moving forward. My last day of ministry at OLGH
is 12/31/18. The archbishop's letter accepting my "retirement"
states that he expects us to continue serving in the ministry, but
on our terms. This does mean stepping away form OLGH---to allow the
new priest to take up the task of shepherding and pastoring the
people of OLGH. This will not be easy for me, maybe for you too.
However this is a necessary and ethical step. Some priests have a
struggle with boundaries and limits. I do not. I happily give way
to the new pastor for the sake of closure and progress.
Lastly, for now, one of the jobs I keep (even in retire-ment) is
the role of "supervising priest" at St. Joe's in Grafton. This
parish is pastored by a "lay person," Brenda Cline. Canon law
requires a priest designation, and I am it. I will assist the
parish as I am able.
Looking forward, it's kind of fun to call the shots, after 42
years. I know this may leave you with lots of questions. We will
address those at weekend mass going forward. In the meantime, the
clock is ticking….............................. ~MB
