inch rocket launcher in excallmt ccndition at TA 0193\1. Fox cOOipan;r patrol reported civilians stated that the chinese planned
to trap UN forcos in a valley near IDIU-DONG (TA 9994) by defmding the
high ground northeast or the town. They apparently expected an attack
up the vaJ.ley Tho uiviJ.ian further stated that tho CCF would set up
defenses north of the SOYANG-GANG river and would return in a month, bringing into effect the •.fifth phase" of their attack order. One (l)

station at 1600; at 1550 this request wa.s roqnested oocpodited, but
llhen the OY arrived on station at 1820 it was unable to make ro
conne.:l.ssanco because of haze end smoke. Retreating enemy, it was
believed, had set houses and grassy hillsides afire throughout tho
valley to conceal their withdrawal. At 1610, a runner and interpreter
from Easy ccmpany were dispatched to inform the 1st KMC Rogimcnt that our patrol had bean fired upon and to find out llhother that unit had troops in the area under q_nootion. At 1710 contact was
