APPENDIX VI
MEDICAL REPORT
The first fourteen cays of the month, were spent in the Kimpo Provisional Area Camp. Sanitation for th1a period was satisfactory. The advanced echelon lett the Klmpo Area on the Fourteent)l. of June, with the main body or troops moving into ;he Sangorang'o area on the Fifteenth of June. The sanitation situation in the Sangorang!o area was very poor. The ... ~ed1oal Officer wade an inspection and recommendations to correct discrepancies noted and passed on to the proper departments for action. The messing facilities have, on the whole, been good,. w.1 th the axoapt1on that the:r·e haa been a general shortage of incinerator burners, which has been corrected. During the latter part of the month the companies and Battalion Aid have been moved higher up the hill l'lhere they are in a more protected area. Upon coming in this area it was immediately noticed that there was a very high incidence of rats in the area. Upon the recommendations of 'both Regiment and Division a general program or rat and mite control has been instituted. This program has been ressonably successful t~ this point, The Medical Officer is h · ghly pl eae ed with the Meta.ie.noe Control pro·:;ram, wh1c consists of togging by both heliooopter and truck; bed netting, eliminatlo~ of mofauito and flY b~heedingtareae~ spraylll: and genera~ clean rness. During t. e pas monvn there have been six (6) cases oi Gonorhea and three (3j cases of Chancerold in Third Battalion Fifth Marines. There were no · 'IA or KIA, through the ~attalion Aid Station durin:~ the month.
