All about the peregrine falcons

Who Am I

• My animal is a peregrine falcon. Aperegrine falcon can fly at about60 mph at level flight but whenthey dive at prey they can reachup to 220 mph. They’re predatorsare the great horned owl, goldeneagles, and other large mammals.They are in every continent butAntarctica. They eat other animalsby attacking them in mid flight.They can travel up to 5,500 milesa year.

The Early Years

• They stay with theirparents for about acouple of weeks. Thenthe parents get the foodfor the babies and pluckthe feathers off the foodfor the babies and teachthem how to fly bymaking them jump out ofthe nest for the food thatthe parents have .

• They commonly placenests on open ledges

,holes , or recesses of eitherigneus or sedimentaryrock. Reintroductionefforts have resulted inthem utilizing nestingstructures on tallbuildings or smoke stacksin cities.

What’s on the menu

• A peregrine falconeats mostly birds fromsongbirds up to smallgeese and other smallmammals.

• The tracks look likethree sticks right nextto each other on thetop of a building
