Bits and Bridles 4-H Club – For collecting the most food in the 14 th Annual 4-H Have a Heart Food Drive Challenge. Well done to Hunter Pinder who collected over 500 pounds of food for the club!! BB will receive a delux ice cream social sponsored by the 4-H office at a future meeting. Congratulations! 4-H Online – The final extension for youth and UME volunteers to re-enroll is April 1 st . Despite Covid 19, everyone should be able to re-enroll. If you need assistance, contact Annie Steele at [email protected]4-H News: 1. Achievement Banquet – I know it seems like so long ago, I want to congratulate all the awardees and everyone who helped to make the day a great success. I want to highly encourage all 4-H’ers to consider helping next year. 2. 4-H Club Officer Training – is cancelled. I am looking into trying to set up a Zoom training sometime soon. Stay tuned. 3. 4-H Annual Public Speaking Contest – this event will be postponed until we are able to gather again. Youth should keep speeches etc. until we can reschedule. The regional contest is cancelled for 2020 but will return in 2021. The state contest will be rescheduled.
4. 4-H Potato Project – I am working on proceeding with getting potatoes for all those signed up.
5. 4-H Tractor School – All youth ages 14-15 years, working on a farm or other operation not owned by their parents, are required to attend youth Tractor Certification. Youth older may also attend but are not required by law. 4-H Tractor School will be rescheduled when we are able to gather again. Kent County 4-H will pay the $30 fee for any Kent 4-H’er who attends and gets certified. Contact the 4-H Office for registration forms and information.

Kent County Fair News
Kent Ag Center Auction & Clean-Up Dates Set – The 2020 annual auction
has been re-scheduled for Saturday March 25th, 2020 although that is subject to
change. The 4-H family hardware selection is also on hold until we are able to gather.
Animal Science News and Info:
1. Ownership Deadlines – Current ownership deadlines for most animal species, especially market
livestock, is May 1st. However, if sales and auctions are cancelled or postponed and youth have trouble
purchasing project animals, that deadline will move the June 1st, (for 2020 ONLY), which is the state
deadline.
2. Eastern Shore Spring Show – still happening Sat. May 9th, QA Co 4-H Park. This may change but we
are going to move forward and have everything planned. The book is posted on our Kent 4-H Facebook
page and on the Kent 4-H website. The book was also mailed to all animal exhibitors showing beef,
dairy, dog, goats, rabbits/cavies, sheep and swine. Entries are due April 20th to Christine Johnston.
3. Cecil County Breeders Fair – June 6-7 at the Cecil County Fairgrounds, Fair Hill. The book is posted on
the Cecil County 4-H website and available to be emailed from me. Animal exhibitors had the book
Was scheduled for April, but is on hold due to Covid19. It looks like the organizers are going to try and reschedule for the fall. If you are interested, here is the website with more information. Any reschedule information will be posted when available. Kent 4-H will provide a 50% scholarship for up to 5 Kent 4-H youth who would like to attend.
