Oklahoma was well represented at the 2017 National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships. Teams and individuals from several disciplines made the stage. Sarah Trotter, Landon Weeks, Brooke Bollinger and Colten Smith finished 4th overall, 4th in field and 3rd in FITA in Recurve Archery. Sarah placed 4th in FITA and 4th overall individually while Landon placed 9th in FITA and 10th overall. Zachary League finished 9th overall in Hunting Skills. He also placed 5th in hunting skills and sporting clays and 4th in Decision making and Archery. Payton Mayer placed 3rd in Skeet, 5th in Trap and 5th overall. Payton, Blake Randall, Nathan Beagle and Riley Hamilton placed 2nd in Skeet and 4th in Trap. Marissa Bensch placed 7th in 3 position Sporter Air Rifle. Sports Ambassador !
Zachary started shooting with
the 4-H program at age nine.
He began shooting recurve ar-
chery, and now Zach is certi-
fied in archery, air rifle, shot
gun and smallbore rifle.
Zach has been an active partici-
pant in the Northwest District
Winter Shooting series. He has
brought home Jr. Compound
Archery Champion as well as
Senior Air Rifle Champion.
Zachary claimed State 4-H Air
Rifle Jr Champion and placed 4th
& 2nd at State Air rifle as a
senior competitor. Zach also
placed 1st in this year’s mail-in
air rifle contest.
League has represented Okla-homa at Nationals in Air Rifle,
placing 33rd out of 93 in 2016,
and Hunting Skills, placing 10th
out of 54 in 2017. Zach made
appearances on the podium at
Nationals by placing 5th in Gen-eral Hunting Knowledge and 4th
in Hunter Decision Making.
Zach has presented power
point presentations on the
Local, County & State level.
League tag teamed with his
cousin, Austin Rankin (The
Northwest District VP), pre-
sent a workshop called
“Beyond the Range”. League
has organized his local club to
clean up the shooting range at
the Optima wildlife reserve.
