Sasana Kijang, 3rd Floor, Art Gallery 3rd Floor Plan Sense of Materiality Design Intention & Concept Space Analysis The space that I have chosen is the Art Gallery located at the 3rd Floor of Sasana Kijang. The space selected was half of the Art Gallery which contains decorations and different materials on the walls. Benches can be found in the space unlike the other half of the Art Gallery. The purpose of creating this space is so that artworks of artists can be presented. The space was meant to be wide, empty and also isolated from any form of distractions. It is to allow users to have better focus. By selecting the highest floor and the corner of a building, while using materials that isolates distractions, users will feel and have more private space between one another. The benches are located near the walls to prevent users at rest to affect the experiences of the others. Transparency of the space are kept limited but enough to make the user feel free rather than trapped in between walls. Hence, the materials chosen to create this space have to be simple and gentle. Any elaborated elements in the materials could take away the purpose of creating this space. Also, the materials chosen are supposed to make users feel calm and relaxed. TINTED GLASS Tinted glass are used at some parts of the walls to allow natural sunlight into the space. It adds on to the feeling of being in a natural environment with the sunlight reflecting on the laminated wood. CONCRETE WALLS AND COLUMNS White concrete walls and columns are used for the simplicity visual effect while contrasting with the laminated wood floors. It is also to ensure that the artworks in the gallery get more focus than the space. STEEL Steel is used on the walls at this space as a decoration element. It creates a diamond shape on the walls working as a separation between this space and the other of the Art Gallery. It also increases the unity of the building's exterior pattern with this space.
