Chapter II
METHODS OF RESEARCH AND PROCEDURES
This chapter presents the research design method used in the study,
the data gathering procedures, the instruments for gathering data, and
the statistical tools and treatment of data.
Research Design
The method of research used by the researcher in the study is the
descriptive method of research, because this kind of research describes
the present system based on the impressions of the respondents. Using the
descriptive survey as a type of descriptive research because it is
appropriate in knowing the extent to which the different conditions of the
present setup of the study.
Methods of Research
The descriptive survey method was used to achieve the purpose of
the study. The descriptive method is concerned with condition that exists,
practices that prevail, belief and point of view or attitudes that are held
and process that are going on. This was deemed appropriate because
the study sought to identify all things happen at the present flow of
<enrolment>.
Respondents of the Study
The respondents of the study will consist of a) Isabela State University
– Cauayan Campus students (370) , b) Isabela State University – Cauayan
Campus faculty and staff (50), c) Enrolment personnel (7).
Sample and Sampling Procedure
Sloven’s Formula –( include this if you used this in your study)
Stratified Sampling –( include this if you used this in your study)
Data Gathering Procedures
First, the researcher will prepare a letter seeking for the approval
from the concerned authority.
After seeking approval, the researcher will prepare the
questionnaires, have them checked and approved by the research
adviser and then administer the questionnaires to the respondents.
Page 17

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT)
The researcher will tally the responses according to the questions in
the statement of the problem. Then, the responses are put into tables and
graphs, and interpret and analyze them.
Data Gathering Instruments
This study will make use of the Questionnaire as its main instrument in
gathering data. It will also make use of interview to support the data and
information gathered from the questionnaires. This will also be
supplemented by observations and documentary analysis.
Questionnaire. The researcher made use of this instrument because
… (discuss reason on why using this instrument.
Interview –( include this if you used this in your study) concept and
reason of using each of the following instruments in gathering data.
Observation–( include this if you used this in your study)
Library Research–( include this if you used this in your study)
Internet Research–( include this if you used this in your study)
Statistical Tools and Treatment of Data
This research will use the frequency distribution, percentage list,
ranking and averaging and weighted mean as tools for the data
gathered. Weighted mean is scaled using the table below:
Weighted Mean Descriptive Interpretation
4.26 – 5.00 Strongly Agree
3.51 – 4.25 Agree
2.76 – 3.50 Fairly Agree
2.01 – 2.75 Disagree
1.26 – 2.00 Strongly Disagree
A. For finding the percentage, the researcher used this formula.
f
% = ------------- x 100
n
where:
% = percentage
f = frequency
n = number of respondents
B. The researcher used this formula in computing for the weighted
mean.

respondents according to course.
It shows that there were 149 or 48.06% are BSIT; 12 or 3.87% are BSCS;
56 or 18.06% are BSIT-LAD; and 93 or 30% are ACT respondents.
Further analysis shows that majority of the respondents were BSIT
students.
Note: One table per page. If more than one pages, the next table would be on
the next page. The interpretation consists of three paragraphs (description of the
table, list the significant data on the table, and what was the majority result or

SUMMARY, FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This chapter presents the summary of findings which includes
conclusions and recommendations of the researcher.
Summary
This part of the study summarizes chapter IV. You should discuss brief
results from findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
Findings
Put here summary of findings from the tables presented in Chapter
3. Usually, you will based your statements here from every third paragraph
of each table.
Conclusions
Based on the findings, the researcher came up with the following
conclusions:
1. You don’t need anymore to indicate such conclusions regarding
the profile of the respondents.
2. Focus on the main concern of the study as to the problems,
what are your conclusions.
3. Make at least three conclusions.
Recommendations
Based from the conclusions made, the researcher highly
recommends that the school must have computerized enrolment system
in order to achieve the following:
1. The answer to your first conclusion. It means every conclusion
must have corresponding recommendation.
2. It should justify also the objectives of the study.
