Innovation Adoption and Critical Mass
School Supplies Current
Schooling= Textbooks, papers, pens, pencils.
New 2022 Schooling= Digital!
Digital Schooling
Tablet devices have passed laptops as the go-to tool in high school classrooms.
Using the Innovation Adoption Theory, right now the use of tablets in school is limited to a few schools known as the early adopters. We are currently experiencing the “chasm” waiting for it to the early majority and on to hit critical mass where this is widely accepted in all schools versus textbooks.
The Principle of Relative Consistency
• Old Media getting replaced by new media when the new technology is compelling enough for the adopter to move on it.
The future of phones
Phones have already taken on so many roles in our lives (phone, texting, internet, calendar, alarm, weather, app for everything) It is common sense to assume this trend will continue on into 2022.
Future Phone will combine all technologies into one device-television, tablet, phones, etc. It will be able to do everything all of the technologies can do now individually, but combine them all into a super device.

Computer Human Interaction We have been
waiting for robots to become reality for decades since we have seen them on television. Strides have been made, however, the robot we all think about has yet to become a reality or affordable.
Real Robots The principle of relative
consistency shows that if robots were useful enough and user friendly enough for the average person to use they would be widely adopted. They could be used to do housework, and day to day activities that would free up time for people. I imagine us having robots in 2022.
Social Learning/Social Cognitive Theory
Future of the Internet In Disney’s Wall-E they
depicted a futuristic chair that people pretty much lived in and it provided everything for them. I am not sure the change would be this drastic but I can see a form of internet and devices such as this that we would be able to access in a form much like this and no longer need wifi or hot spots to connect to the internet-we would be able to connect from anywhere.
I think that once a few people were seen with a technology like this is would be widely adopted and we would learn from each other as suggested in the social learning theory.
