Situated in Llanwern, Wales and Wednesfield in the West Midlands, both plants use high quality steel coil made at Tata Steel’s Port Talbot site. Wednesfield Automotive Service Centre Provides automotive supply chain with first-stage processing capability of sophisticated steel and aluminium products used in car components like body panels and side impact bars. Zodiac Line, Llanwern The Zodiac galvanising line adds zinc coating layers for corrosion protection on a variety of automotive strip steel grades enabling customers to produce vehicles with long term anti-corrosion warranty. Tata Steel UK invests in its automotive assets to meet new model growth. Over £30 million has been spent at Wednesfield’s Automotive Service Centre and Llanwern’s Zodiac Line in recent years in order to produce a wider range of products to meet the current and future requirements of our automotive customers. Tata Steel UK’s Research and Development team are based in Coventry, in the heartland of the UK automotive industry. 50 researchers work in collaboration with universities and research institutes, as well as key automotive customers, to develop the next generation of ultra high strength steels as well as products offering improved corrosion protection and vehicle styling options. Tata Steel UK works closely with automotive customers on the development of new and improved products and technologies, offering improvements in their manufacturing processes as well as on the road, balancing performance, weight and cost.
