“The Light Is On For You”
On all Wednesdays of Lent (excluding Ash Wednesday), 6:30-8:00 P.M. , Saint Agnes Church and all parishes and chapels of the Archdiocese of Boston will be open for individual Confessions. Inviting Catholics to experience Christ’s healing love through the Sacrament of Reconciliation is a major initiative of Cardinal Seán and the Archdiocese. The Archdiocese has set up a website, www.TheLightIsOnForYou.org, to help you prepare. It has videos on the Sacrament of Reconciliation, sheets on how to make a good Confession, answers to frequently-asked questions and more. Please make plans to come on Lenten Wednesdays and spread the word of this special outreach of mercy to those you know.

Cardinal Seán has directed that Saint Agnes and Saint Camillus Parishes will begin as a collaborative in June of 2018. A collaborative is a structure within which several distinct parishes cooperate, to combine resources such as priests, staff and finances, to put toward our global effort of evangelization. Within the collaborative, our two parishes will begin this collaboration by sharing a pastor. We will share parochial vicars and key staff members. It is likely that the priests will live together in one rectory. The parishes will not combine bank accounts. Our offertories, and sacramental records, and capital needs will all be tracked separately.
People living with depression meeting, Thursday, February 22 , 6:30 PM. Join us for an evening of prayer and fellowship as we seek the Lord's healing together. For more information contact Karen Celano [email protected]

Saint Agnes Parish, Arlington, Massachusetts - The First Sunday of Lent - February 17-18, 2018
There are many reasons to donate to St Vincent de Paul collection boxes at Church entrances. Each year our Parish, through the local conference of Saint Vincent De Paul, assists over 100 families in need. Thanks to your generosity last year we assisted these needy neighbors with over $30,000 in assistance. Donations come in large and small and all are appreciated. A few come in with notes thanking God for answering a prayer. Ways in which families are helped include rent, heat, utilities and food. No money is given directly to individuals but to vendors on their behalf. Any one of us could find ourselves in need and our local conference is a source of support not just financially but spiritually as we pray together with those we help and on their behalf. We cannot do everything for everyone but work with other local or state resources in providing a safety net as best we can. Together with your donations and prayers we are feeding the hungry, providing drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, sheltering the homeless and visiting the sick. God Bless you all for helping to support the many good works of the society.
We are thrilled to announce that on March 24 , Quiz Night will now be a combined Saint Agnes School and Arlington Catholic High School event. Quiz Night presented by Arbella Insurance , will be held in the Arlington Catholic Gym where tables of 10 answer trivia questions posed by our Quizmaster. A full cash bar is available and tables may bring their own food and drink to the evening.

Jesus overcomes the temptations to wealth, power and esteem. As we begin Lent, may we open our hearts to the grace of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Your almsgiving in the Saint Vincent de Paul Poor Box will help the poor to celebrate the grace of god’s love this Easter.
Prayer Line - If you are in need of prayers, call the healing and restoration prayer line at 617-442-3938 (located at Mission Church, 1545 Tremont Street, Boston). Healing service is the last Sunday of the month at 2:00 PM.
Collection for the Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe
Next week the second collection will support two of the Church’s Missions. The Church in Central and Eastern Europe collection supports Catholic organizations that provide affordable shelter and training for seminarians in a region that still struggles from the effects of Soviet rule. Your donations help restore the Church and build the future in the region. Please visit www.usccb.org/ccee.
The Church in Africa is growing, yet many still lack access to basic resources and pastoral care. Many suffer due to high rates of poverty and unemployment, illiteracy, and poor education. The Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa supports pastoral projects that foster lasting peace and reconciliation in a continent often marked by division and tension. Please visit www.usccb.org/africa.
