Dear Parents, This will be our final newsletter for this year. A number of families who have been with us for many years will conclude their association with Wattle Park Primary School as their last child graduates this year. To students who are leaving Wattle Park PS for a range of reasons, before the completion of Year 6, I wish you well at your new schools. I hope you and your families will look upon your time at Wattle Park with fabulous memories. The School Council unanimously accepted the recommendation of the Finance Committee’s November report to set the 2019 Parent Payments and Voluntary Contributions for $935 in-cluding essential items and excursion levy. Camps and swimming costs are invoiced according-ly. Staffing arrangements for 2019 have been finalised. A full list of class and specialist teachers is presented below. As I’m sure everyone is aware, Miss Robyn Gilmour is retiring after 41 years of dedicated ser-vice in the state government education system. I would like to take this opportunity to sin-cerely thank Robyn for the past 22 years here at Wattle Park Primary, teaching across most levels. My mathematical computations calculate that Robyn would have taught over 1,000 students in her career! Apart from teaching, Robyn has contributed to the school as a staff representative on School Council, a representative on the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Gar-den committee, as an Occupational Health and Safety representative and an AEU sub-branch president. Robyn has always been active in extra curricula activities always attending the AN-ZAC Dawn Service, the first to volunteer for school camps and sleepovers. I know that the place will definitely be quieter without her presence! But over her time at the school Robyn has impacted positively on many students and it is due to the care and support that she provided them that they were able to become produc-tive citizens. Robyn’s impact on them was most profound. Wattle Park Primary was a very different school 20 years ago. The starting day for students in Years 1 -6 inclusive is Wednesday 30th January 2019. Founda-tion students commence on Thursday 31st January. Our first whole School Assembly will take place on Monday 4th February, at 3.00p.m. in the Gymnasium. As the year draws to a close I would like to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of all mem-bers of our community. To the talented and dedicated staff, exceptional administration team-Mrs Helen Dalzotto, Mrs Joy Roberts, Mrs Joanna Holland and Ms Nan Wu and sensa-tional support staff, thank you. I would especially like to thank School Council President Mr Matthew Torney and Treasurer Mr Scott Sutherland for their unwavering support for the school – staff, administration and community; their leadership of school council; their wise advice on many issues and that they always have passionate and positive conversations both public and private about our school. Jane Rosback and Christina Griffin who led and implemented an absolutely sensational Twi-light Fete. Special thanks to all the parents for their extraordinary support and encouragement. Partic-ular mention must be made of the School Council and Sub Committee members, the Movie Night committee, Parent Helpers, who devote many voluntary hours to ensure Wattle Park continues to be the outstanding school it is. On a personal note a special thank you to Mr Steve Donohue. Steve is a loyal, trustworthy assistant principal who stands right alongside me. I value his honest, open, calm council and I could not possibly do my job without his considerable knowledge and support. To the Leadership Team comprising of Ms Catherine Churchward, Mrs Julie Gledhill, Mr Richard Abell, Mrs Ainslie Peszynski and Mrs Zelema Levy, I thank them for their valuable insights and suggestions with regard to curriculum and workforce issues. Thank you to all members of the Wattle Park Primary School community for your support throughout 2018 and for your many good wishes and words of appreciation.
