OSAKA, 22 Aug, 2013 – AirAsia X Berhad, Malaysia’s leading low-cost, long-haul carrier, an affiliate of
the AirAsia Group, announced today the increase of its flight frequency from Kuala Lumpur to Osaka from
four weekly flights currently to daily effective 25 November, 2013. The move is part of the airline’s
growth strategy in North Asia and continued strategic emphasis on the Japanese market.

AirAsia X commenced flights to Japan in December 2010 to Tokyo (Haneda) and flights to Osaka
commenced in November 2011. AirAsia X increased its initial three weekly flights from Kuala Lumpur to
Tokyo (Haneda) to daily in June 2012. The airline is committed to Japan and the additional flight
frequency to Osaka is in line with its expansion strategy for the region.
AirAsia X will be offering promotional fares to celebrate the daily flight frequencies from as low as
MYR299* (JPY12,000) on Economy and MYR1399 (JPY35,000) on Premium from Kuala Lumpur to Osaka,
Japan. Fares are available for booking online from 23 August to 1 September 2013 for travel
between 16 December 2013 and 30 June, 2014.
At a media gathering in Osaka today, Azran Osman-Rani, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia X
said, “AirAsia X is responding to the strong and growing travel demand to and from Osaka, Japan. The
airline has recorded on average 81% passenger load in the first half of 2013, proving the strong demand
for the route since the commencement of its inaugural flight in November 2011. Overall, the airline has
carried over 0.5 million passengers to and from its Japan routes and Japan contributes over 14% of the
airline’s total revenue in the first half of 2013.”
“The timings of the new additional frequencies would further provide our guests from Malaysia and the
surrounding region to Osaka and from Kansai region to South East Asia and beyond the flexibility in their
travel with better connectivity. With the convenience of our Fly-Thru flights, guests from our long haul
network and that of the AirAsia Group may connect seamlessly to over 85 destinations across the Group’s
network. The additional flight frequencies will indeed open up new horizons for commercial activities and
boost tourism in Kansai and the Asean region.”

Adelaide) from as low as JPY22,900*, Indonesia (Bandung, Medan, Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya) from as low
as JPY16,900*, Malaysia (Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Langkawi) from as low as JPY15,900*,
Thailand (Bangkok, Chiangmai, Phuket) from as low as JPY17,900*, India (Chennai, Kochin) from as low
as JPY21,900*, Philippines (Manila) from JPY18,900*, Cambodia (Phnom Penh) from JPY19,900*, and
Singapore from JPY13,900*. The Fly-thru service allows passengers to seamlessly purchase two flight
sectors and connect via Kuala Lumpur. Same booking and travel period applies for our Fly-Thru

AirAsia X was the first long-haul, low fare carrier to introduce Premium Flatbed seats, which have
standard business class specifications of 20” width, 60” pitch and stretch out to 77” in full recline
position.
