2012.11.22 Summarized Minutes STC Updates SOSE-STC-HEC Week is tentatively scheduled on 14-18 January 2013. The event will be a good avenue to promote for two AMS projects happening during the week: FMIC and Math Conference. Math Department Updates In line with the department’s plan to hold the Open House for three (3) days, the administrative mistake of declaring the Open House budget for next year poses a problem to the said plan. SOSE seeks to revamp recruitment brochure. The theme for the brochure revolves around the idea of opportunities (e.g. The title for the section on ECE could be Opportunities to network). Dr. Sarmiento wants to send 3rd year and 4th year students to Doc Mara’s (who will be undergoing dialysis next week) house next week to visit. In line with this, Carlo, Len, and Elly will coordinate to Doc Mara’s students in trying to gather as much get-well-soon-messages, and to plan for the visit itself. APO tie-up on APEX 10: Finance APO seeks collaboration with AMS for APEX 10: Finance (will cover career in finance and personal finance) that will happen on 7 December 2012, with the deal of sending 30 participants in exchange of the organization’s billing as a co- presenter of the event. The ExeCom agreed of not accepting the tie-up invitation. Electoral Board Updates During the last meeting with the board, positions within the board were already decided upon. The Top 4 issue was also revisited, and the board has decided to restrict the candidacy for President to those who have already stayed in the organization for 4 semesters upon filing of candidacy. The discernment talk (not required for candidacy) will be held on 28 November 2012. The talk will be about how one discerns to step up in the midst of all the things that is pushing him not to. The event will be held with two (2) batches. LTS Evaluations The general approach of the evaluations will be qualitative. The method would be like the Gap Analysis; pre-planning for next year’s LTS can also follow after.
