14 DAYS
Prepare for adventure as you explore both coasts of South America, from the coolly spectacular Chilean Fjords to the European flair of Buenos Aires.
Days 0–2 Feel the power of Petrohué Falls as you tour from Puerto Montt. Marvel at Osorno, the same volcano Darwin watched erupt on his second voyage of the Beagle. Days 3–5 While exploring the Chilean Fjords, visit remote Chacabuco, where you may kayak Lake Los Palos, hike a silent forest or ride horseback into the wild landscape of Northern Patagonia.Day 6 From your prime position on the Strait of Magellan, you can go several ways today: Torres del Paine National Park, Isla Magdalena to walk among the penguins, even to Antarctica on a charter flight from Punta Arenas.
Days 7–8 Following in the wake of Darwin, witness the beauty of Italia Glacier, pale blue with a flowing waterfall. From Ushuaia, cruise to Sea Lion Island, where hefty males bark orders to you and your fellow explorers cruising by. Day 9 The Falkland Islands welcome you with an English accent, rockhopper penguins and time to chat with the regulars at the pub.Days 10–12 Follow the green line to downtown Montevideo, where locals relax in tree-shaded plazas and cafés invite you in for empanadas.Days 13–14 A full day and night in Buenos Aires, with time to take in a fiery tango show.
FRUIT OF THE VINEChile and Argentina produce some of the world's finest wines, from smoky, fruity Carménères to lush and earthy Malbecs. Join our onboard wine expert for a taste.
STIR IT UPLearn how to prepare South American specialities on board. Think chimichurri — a gaucho-style steak sauce that will forever spoil you for anything that comes in a bottle.
SUITE LUXURYReward yourself with a Vista Suite and enjoy a new level of cruising: extra room to spread out, your own verandah for sunning or dining and a host of complimentary services.
NEW HOME PORTBegin or end your cruise in San Antonio, gateway to Chilean delights: the resort town of Vina del Mar, Santiago and Chilean wine country. See hollandamerica.com.
Immerse yourself in South American culture: tango music, yerba maté tea, venerable churches that grace a nation’s currency.
Extended Stay. Departure leaving the next calendar day.

Two continents, two vastly different experiences. South America, with its ice-blue glaciers and red-hot tango. And Antarctica, utterly stunning in white.
Days 0–1 An overnight stay in Buenos Aires gives you time to take in a tango show over drinks in one of the city’s most iconic theaters. Join local porteños for coffee at a traditional café the morning after.Day 2 Discover the health benefits of yerba maté tea from a shopkeeper in Montevideo. Learn about this year’s releases from a vintner at a boutique winery. Days 3–6 Visit a colony of noisy Magellan penguins in Puerto Madryn, tiptoeing within feet of nesting couples and their fledgling chicks. In the Falkland Islands, walk along Stanley Harbour and see how many different colors you can count on the brightly painted, wood-clad homes.
Days 7–12 As your Captain and ice pilot search out the most scenic routes through the bays and channels of the Antarctic Peninsula, pinch yourself to see if you are really here. Imagine your ship edging up to colossal glaciers, glowing so blue they seem to be lit from within. Smile as penguins wiggle their tiny tails and dive into the sea. Count seals by the hundreds as they ride ice floes right beneath your verandah. Days 13–21 Follow in the wake of Darwin as you conduct your own survey of the wildlife-rich Beagle Channel and the fjords and glaciers that line the coast of Chile. Day 22 During an optional transfer to the Santiago airport, stop for winetasting in Chile’s scenic Casablanca Valley.
EXPEDITION TEAMLearn more about Antarctica from a team of scientists and wildlife experts who present insightful talks and alert you to wildlife sightings.
RESEARCHERSThrill as scientists from the U.S. Biological Center at Palmer Station climb the ship’s rope ladder to tell of their work here at the bottom of the world.
LAND OF FIREOn a train ride from Ushuaia, learn how the signal fires of the Alacalufe people inspired Magellan to name the area Tierra del Fuego, Land of Fire.
RARE LANDINGDuring an optional excursion, fly to Antarctica to step foot on the White Continent, visit the Chilean research base and see penguins by the hundreds.
