Amy Kilgore Amy grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Caroline, where she met her husband, Sid. They moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and lived there for 22 years. Amy and Sid have two daughters. Lucy is beginning her junior year at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and Caroline is beginning her senior year at Louisville Collegiate School. In Atlanta, Amy served as a volunteer coordinator for several nonprofits, and she also taught preschool for 14 of those years. Entering their third year in Louisville, Amy and her family have really come to love Louisville. Amy is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with young children again and is excited to be at Collegiate. In her words, “I much prefer lunch with a table of four-year-olds than lunch with the ladies!”

Kenneth Kimmel Ken was born and raised in beautiful and friendly Kentuckiana. After 15 years in production management, Ken fortunately found his passion for training co-workers and eventually teaching in a classroom setting. Initially, Ken taught business and economics courses part-time at Indiana Wesleyan in Louisville. However, for the past ten years, Ken and his family have been living in China where he taught economics and history at two international K-12 schools. Ken is excited to return to the Louisville area, and is honored to become part of the Collegiate team. He is joined by his wife Summer, who is working in the Admissions Office at Collegiate, and his son, Walt, has joined the Upper School as part of the Class of 2021. Ken looks forward “to guiding Collegiate students to become the best they can be with their unique skills and interests and to lead them on a path of understanding purpose and life-long learning.” Summer Kimmel Originally from China, Summer has lived both in the US and China for a significant number of years. She has been married to Ken, a native of Jeffersonville, Indiana, for 27 years, and they have two children: Annie, a senior at Cornell studying computer and electrical engineering, and Walt, a junior here at Collegiate. Summer and her family were glad to return to the Louisville area this summer after ten years of working in international schools in China. Summer appreciates the positive learning environment that independent schools offer, and she is very happy to be a part of the admissions team at Collegiate, where she her primary focus will be Upper School admissions and financial aid assistance. Matthew Lane String musicians in Louisville have an enthusiastic cheerleader in Matt Lane. He has been a luthier (an instrument restoration expert), teacher, performer, and more over the last 15 years. Throughout that time, Matt has also taught multiple strings classes through the Oldham County Strings Project, The Louisville Youth Orchestra, St. Patrick’s School, Virginia Chance School, and many others. He is most proud of the accomplishments of the Concentus String Quartet, in which he is the first violin chair, and also of his role as Concertmaster for the Louisville Philharmonia Orchestra. Matt is also the owner of Lane & Edwards Violins in St. Matthews. Matt is overjoyed to be a part of such a vibrant hub of curiosity and learning found here at Collegiate. Listen for the sounds of the 5th-grade class exploring music with strings this year.

Erin Lerner Erin is excited to return to teaching at Collegiate after nine years at home with her three children. Erin first came to Collegiate as a twenty-three-year-old, fairly fresh out of college with a Math and English degree from Washington and Lee University. During her first tenure at Collegiate, Erin earned a MAT from UofL as well as her Kentucky teaching certification (Thanks in no small part to the brilliant mentorship of Debby Scherer). She also met her husband, Chris Lerner, who teaches strings at Collegiate. Erin stepped out of the classroom when her oldest child, Bobby, was born in 2010, but in that time away from the classroom, she has been tutoring all levels of math in order to “stay in shape.” Erin is looking forward to joining Chris, Bobby (4th grade), Stash (2nd grade) and Hazel (JK) on campus. Michelle Munizaga Michelle graduated from the University of Kentucky with a BA in Elementary Education; she earned her MA in International Education from New York University, Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development. After graduating she worked with Foreign Fulbright Scholars at the Institute of International Education. In 2010, she joined Trevor Day School in New York City. While there, she taught Pre-K–4th Grade Spanish for two years and then taught as a 2nd Grade Head Teacher. In addition to teaching, Michelle was an Associate Director of Diversity at the Trevor Day School. Michelle has 12 years of teaching experience in both private and public education, and she has also served as a second-grade head teacher in a Spanish-immersion school. Michelle will teach fourth grade at Collegiate. Manny Nieto Manuel Nieto is originally from Ecuador, and has a great passion for teaching language and culture. He moved to the United States in 1999 to pursue his education at the University of Louisville earning a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and later a master’s degree in Classical and Modern Languages. Manuel also holds a Graduate Certificate in Latin American Studies. Over the last six years of his teaching career, Mr. Nieto has taught English as a Second Language and Spanish to a wide range of grade levels (JK to 8th grade). At Collegiate, he will teach 7th and 8th grade Spanish and lead the Middle School Spanish Club. Manny is also a talented swim coach, with 18 years of experience. He took the helm of the Amazons and Titans’ swimming and diving team last year, and he will continue leading that program hopefully for many years to come. Manny is looking forward to working with students, parents, and colleagues to help Collegiate continue to be an outstanding place for students to grow and challenge themselves.

Evan O'Leary Having lived in three different states and three different countries since graduating from Collegiate in 2014, Evan is thrilled to return to a familiar place. At the University of Michigan, Evan earned a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and Spanish, while also studying extensively in French and linguistics. Most recently, Evan taught mathematics, science and language arts (in Spanish) at a dual immersion school just south of Seattle. In his first year back at Collegiate, Evan will be teaching Spanish three and Spanish five in the Upper School and one class of Middle School French. Evan will also serve as an assistant coach for the Titan lacrosse team. Evan is currently working towards a TEFL certification (Teach English as a Foreign Language) in hopes of teaching abroad during the summer with designs of ultimately developing a summer language/cultural immersion trip for Collegiate students. In Evan’s free time, he can be found mountain biking in Cherokee Park, climbing at Climb Nulu or playing pickup basketball with friends. Evan is excited to share his passions for language learning and all of the benefits

that come along with it!

Hannah Patross Hannah Patross grew up in Lexington, Kentucky. After earning a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and English at Kenyon College, she moved to Milwaukee to teach elementary and middle school math. It was there that she developed a passion for geometric solids with unpronounceable names, discovered brazilian jiu jitsu, acquired the unmistakable long “O” of the Wisconsin accent, witnessed the power of students with a growth mindset, and met her husband Clay. Work took the two of them to Illinois for a couple of years, and now Hannah is excited to be returning to her home state to teach fifth-grade math at Collegiate.

Victoria Sachtleben Victoria ‘Tori’ has been connecting children with books for over twenty years. She started in bookstores shortly after graduating from Bellarmine University, and she eventually found her way to the Louisville Free Public Library where she discovered that, in her words “libraries were where [she] was meant to be!” Tori earned her master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Kentucky, but as she discovered an increasing passion for working directly with students, she soon began my MaEd in Library Media at Murray State. When Tori heard that Collegiate was looking for a Lower School librarian, she “jumped at the opportunity,” and can’t wait to begin this new chapter in her career.

Andrea Shannon Although not originally from Louisville, Dr. Shannon has lived here since 1995. During her childhood, Andrea moved around, living in Michigan, California, and New Jersey before moving to Ohio to attend Kenyon College. In the years that followed, Andrea earned her masters and doctorate in clinical psychology from Spalding University. Andrea is a licensed psychologist, and she has spent the past 19 years working at Centerstone (previously Seven Counties Services), working in the school-based division where she has been providing services to children, their families, and their teachers in various JCPS schools. Andrea loves working in schools because “[she] believes providing intervention in the school environment is most effective.” She met her husband, Mac, at Kenyon, and they have been married for 19 years. They have two children, Eva (age 14) and Alex (age 12). Eva will be

attending Collegiate as a 9th grader in the Upper School, and Alex will be a 7th grader at Sacred Heart Model School. In her free time, Andrea enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
