OPERATIONAL and SAFETY DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
Operations
•Snow removal from inside the arena will be eliminated,•Pigeons and other birds will no longer be a problem .•Extreme temperature difference in the arena itself will be eliminated. •Existing ticketing and circulation patterns are maintained or improved.
Safety
•Safety is greatly improved by enhancing the egress paths from the arena.•Our design add a fire-sprinkler system and fire alarm system into the atrium.•Exit and emergency lighting and a smoke evacuation system are incorporated, none of which are currently present in the atrium space.
•The atrium can now be closed in the evenings and post event to secure the space from crime, vagrancy and vandalism. However, we envision the atrium to be open to
the public during the day for lunch, informal gathering, etc.
Constructability
•The design minimizes disruption to the Arena’s operation, by maintaining much of the existing structure. The design enhances the structural elements, rather than demolishing them, which will significantly reduce construction time and will allow phasing of the work.
