More about Coach Macdonald:Macdonald, a Niagara Falls, Ontario native, makes his Head Coaching debut this season. Since begin-ning his coaching career in 2012-13, Macdonald has helped contribute to the Cyclones back-to-back Eastern Conference Finals appearances. As a player, he spent parts of three seasons in the Queen City, logging 119 regular season games and 44 points (5 goals, 39 assists). Macdonald also contributed with 14 tallies (5 goals, 9 assists) in 44 Kelly Cup Playoff games and was a member of Cincinnati’s first-ever Kelly Cup title in 2008. During that season, he served as an Assistant Captain.
In addition to his ECHL experience, the former defenseman also saw time in the American Hockey League, Central Hockey League, and in Denmark. Collectively, he skated in 385 games as a profes-sional and collected 133 points (30 goals, 103 assists) with 732 career penalty minutes. While playing in Denmark during the 2010-11 campaign, he helped his team capture a Bronze Medal and was a Danish Cup Champion. Prior to going pro, Macdonald was a four-year letter winner at St. Lawrence University, where he amassed 30 points (14 goals, 16 assists) and 131 penalty minutes in 118 career collegiate games.

Gracel had notched nine points (4g, 5a) in 17 games for the Stingrays before the trade. He was a four-year letter winner at UMass-Amherst, where he earned 89 points in 134 collegiate games.
Shorty Success: The Cyclones were able to notch another shorthanded goal this past weekend, their third of the season. More impressively, Zach Budish and Byron Froese are both tied for the ECHL lead with three shorthanded points apiece.
Three or Below: Cincinnati has been nearly automatic when they’ve held their opponents to three goals or less this season. In such situations, the Cyclones have earned a stellar 7-2-0-1 record.
Southern Comfort: The Cyclones have found solid success over the years against their foes from the South. Including this season, when playing South Carolina, Gwinnett, Greenville, Florida, and Orlando, Cincinnati has a combined record of 48-37-4-2.
Early Goals Get the Win: Through 20 games, the Cyclones have enjoyed the best results when scoring early into the game. They are 5-1-0 when notching the game’s first goal and are 3-0 when leading after 20 minutes of play.
Middle Period Muster: The second period has continued to be Cincinnati’s strongest this season. They have outscored opponents by a 28-12 margin in the frame, the second-largest positive differential of any ECHL team. In fact only four other teams have more lamplighters in the period that the Cyclones.
