@CYCLONEFB HEADLINES 1. Iowa State (7-6, 5-4 Big 12) tallied its third-straight winning season and appeared in its third-straight bowl game for just the second time in school history (2000-02). It was the first time since 1976-78 that Iowa State reeled off three-straight winning seasons. 2. Iowa State finished above .500 in conference play (5-4) for the third consecutive season and for only the fourth time in the Big 12 era (2000, 2017, 2018, 2019). ISU tied for third in the Big 12 Conference, marking just the fifth time ISU placed third or better in conference play in the last 60 years (1959, 1977, 1978, 2018, 2019). 3. In the fourth quarter, ISU was fifth nationally in scoring (139) and sixth in scoring differential (+62). ISU was the only team nationally to have four 20-point outbursts in the final quarter: ULM (24), Baylor (21), Oklahoma (20) and Kansas (20). 12. A highlight of the season was a 23-21 victory over No. 22 Texas on Nov. 16. The Cyclones won it on a last- second 36-yard field goal by Connor Assalley, their first regulation “walk-off” win since 1983. It was ISU’s sixth win over a ranked team in the last three seasons and the first over Texas in the Matt Campbell era. Campbell is the only coach in school history to defeat every team in the conference in their Cyclone coaching tenure. 13. ISU was one of three teams nationally (Hawaii, Memphis) with four players over 600 yards receiving: Deshaunte Jones (877), Tarique Milton (722), Charlie Kolar (697) and La’Michael Pettway (676). Milton was seventh nationally in yards per reception (20.6). 14. The Cyclones were fourth in the Big 12 and 47th nationally in rushing defense (139.5) and allowed just 13 rushing TDs to lead the Big 12 and tie for 19th nationally. 15. Senior WR Deshaunte Jones finished his career as one of the greatest wideouts in school history. He concluded his career second in receptions (184) and fifth in receiving yards (2,052). His 76 receptions is the second-best season total in ISU history, ranking second in the Big 12 and 30th nationally (5.8). 16. Sophomore QB Brock Purdy posted the most prolific season by an Iowa State signal-caller, breaking or tying 18 school records (game, season, career). Purdy set season school records in passing yardage (3,982), passing TDs (27), completions (312), total offense (4,231) and 300-yard passing games (6). 17. Purdy led the Big 12 and ranked fourth in the nation in passing yardage (306.3), fifth in total offense (325.5) and sixth in completions (312, 24.0). He was named Second-Team All-Big 12. 18. Purdy was one of four players nationally with at least 27 passing TDs and eight rushing TDs (Justin Fields, Jalen Hurts, Trevor Lawrence) and had nine games of 300 yards of total offense, tying for fourth nationally. 19. First-Team All-Big 12 TE Charlie Kolar was a Second-Team All-American by the FWAA and First-Team Academic All-American. Among FBS tight ends, Kolar was sixth nationally in receiving yards (53.6), T6th in receptions (51) and T4th in TD catches (7). He broke ISU’s season mark for receiving yards by a tight end (697). 20. Freshman All-American RB Breece Hall averaged 101.6 yards, 4.8 ypc with nine rushing TDs in the last eight games. His nine rushing touchdowns is a school record for a Cyclone rookie and his overall 74.8 rushing yards per game ranked fourth nationally among FBS true freshmen. 21. Junior DB Greg Eisworth led the Cyclones in passes defended (11) and had 65 tackles. He was named to the All-Big 12 First Team for the second-straight season, becoming one of only four Cyclones in school history to be a Big 12 (1996-present) first-teamer twice. 22. IOWA STATE BOWL NOTES• Iowa State earned its 15th bowl bid in school history and its third in a row. It marks just the second time in
school history the Cyclones earned bowl berths in three-straight seasons (2000--02; 2017-19).
• Iowa State is 4-11 all-time in bowl games, winning the 2000 Insight.com Bowl (37-29 vs. Pittsburgh), the 2004 Independence Bowl (17-13 vs. Miami of Ohio), the 2009 Insight Bowl (14-13 vs. Minnesota) and the 2017 Liberty Bowl (21-20 vs. Memphis).
• Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell (1-2) is the fifth coach to lead the Cyclones to a bowl game: Johnny Majors (0-2), Earle Bruce (0-2), Dan McCarney (2-3) and Paul Rhoads (1-2).
• The Camping World Bowl is the 10th bowl game Campbell has been a part of in his young career. He coached in four bowl games as an assistant coach: Bowling Green (3), Toledo (1). • Purdy was named one of 16 semifinalists for the Davey O’Brien National QB Award and was a Second-Team All-Big 12 selection, the first Cyclone QB since Seneca Wallace (2002) to earn first- or second-team All-Big 12 accolades.
• In the last 22 games dating back to last season (Purdy era), the Cyclones are averaging 427.3 yards of total offense (9,401) and 31.6 points (696).
• Purdy’s 11 victories vs. Big 12 teams already ties ISU’s all-time career record for QB wins vs. league opponents (since 1928).
• Purdy was a two-time winner of the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week (ULM, Kansas).

JULIAN GOOD-JONES WAS A FOUR-YEAR STARTER• Senior offensive lineman Julian Good-Jones was a four-year starter and one of Iowa State’s most experienced
players. He didn’t start the first game of his freshman season (2016), but has started every game (49 consecutive starts) until missing out on the final game of his career.
• Good-Jones accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl and was named All-Big 12 First Team.
• His 49 career starts is the most in school history.
KOLAR EARNS ALL-AMERICA HONORS AT TIGHT END• Iowa State has found a top-notch tight end in sophomore Charlie Kolar, who was one of eight semifinalists for the
John Mackey Award.
• Kolar was named Second-Team All-American by the FWAA and PFF, and a was a third-team All-America selection by the AP. He was a First-Team All-Big 12 pick.
• Kolar was also named to the Academic All-America Division I Football First Team, becoming the first Cyclone in school history to earn All-America and Academic All-America honors. He is the first Cyclone gridder to garner Academic All-America accolades since 2002.
• Kolar had the third-best receiving grade (90.3%) and third-best offensive grade (85.5%) of any tight end (minimum 200 snaps) in the nation according to PFF.
• Kolar led all Big 12 tight ends in receptions (51), receiving yards (697) and receiving TDs (7).
• 36 of Kolar’s 51 receptions resulted in first downs or touchdowns and 13 were successful 3rd or 4th down conversions. Kolar caught three of ISU’s six successful fourth down pass conversions this season.
• Kolar had five games of 70+ receiving yards. He recorded a career-high eight receptions vs. Oklahoma State and a career-high 100 receiving yards vs. Kansas, the first Cyclone tight end to go over 100 yards receiving since Ernst Brun in 2012.

DESHAUNTE JONES MADE HIS MARK• Senior WR Deshaunte Jones quietly put together one of the greatest careers by an Iowa State wideout.
• Jones, who was an All-Big 12 Second Team selection, ended his career ranked in the top-10 in the following Iowa State career receiving categories: Receptions (2nd, 184), Receiving Yards (5th, 2,052) and TD Receptions (T9th, 12).
• Jones had a fantastic senior campaign, leading the team in receptions (76) and receiving yards (877), ranking second and eighth on ISU’s season record list, respectively.
• Jones fell five catches shy of the single-season ISU reception record (81- Tracy Henderson in 1983).
• Jones was second in the Big 12 and 30th nationally in receptions per game (5.8). He had two 10+ reception games, including a 14-catch game vs. UNI which ranks second in school history and tied for the fifth-best single-game effort in FBS this year.
• His four 100-yard receiving games tied for fourth on ISU’s season list.
• Jones tallied 603 yards after catch to rank 13th nationally and was credited with just two drops according to PFF.
• Jones’ 84-yard TD catch vs. ULM is the fifth-longest pass play in school history. He posted a career-high 144 receiving yards vs. Texas, corralling a 75-yard TD catch.
BREECE HALL EMERGED AT RUNNING BACK• True freshman running back Breece Hall emerged as the star in the backfield the last eight games.
• Hall, who was named All-Big 12 Second Team, averaged 101.6 rushing yards, 4.8 ypc and had nine TDs in the last eight games. His 101.6 rushing average ranked 15th nationally among “power 5” backs since Oct. 12. He was named to PFF’s First-Team All-Freshman Team and 247Sports’ True Freshman All-America First Team.
• Hall was second in the Big 12 (conference games only) in rushing at 95.0. This total includes a one-carry game vs. TCU.
• The rookie also had 23 catches for 252 yards to become just the second Cyclone rookie and first true freshman to go over 1,000 all-purpose yards (1,149).
• His 23 receptions ties for seventh and 252 receiving yards ranks ninth, respectively, on ISU’s freshman record list.
• Hall had four 100-yard rushing performances (132 vs. West Virginia, 183 vs. Texas Tech, 110 vs. Oklahoma, 101 vs. Texas). His four 100-yard efforts is the second-most by an ISU freshman.
• Hall’s nine rushing TDs is an ISU freshman record and his 897 rushing yards ranks second.
• Hall's 183 rushing yards vs. Texas Tech ranks as the third-best rushing game by a freshman in ISU history. He won Big 12 Newcomer of the Week accolades after West Virginia and Texas Tech.
• Hall also had 256 all-purpose yards vs. Texas Tech, the most yards from scrimmage by a freshman in ISU history and the ninth-best single-game total in the ISU record book.
• He was the first player in ISU history since 1971 to have a 50-yard rush and 50-yard reception in the same game (Texas Tech). His 75-yard rushing TD was the longest rush of the season for ISU and the longest rush for ISU since 2015.
