Fees and AccommodationThe tuition fees are 450. Participants
will have to cover their travel, accommodation and everyday
expenses. Participants can choose accommodation from a variety of
options, with prices starting from 100 for the whole 2 weeks. The
additional tuition fees for the optional third week of the Summer
School are 100.
Discounts Participants who register before 30 April 2014 will
pay 350. Participants who are IHU graduates or who intend to study
at IHU in the following year will receive a major discount in their
Summer Course tuition fees or their MA tuition fees
respectively.
Participants and Application ProcedureThe Summer School on
Ancient Macedonia welcomes applicants from a wide range of
educational backgrounds. Participants can be undergraduate students
and graduates of related disciplines. Applications from other
professionals with an interest in archaeology and ancient
technology will also be taken into consideration.

Programme SummaryThe Summer School on Ancient Macedonia focuses
on the history, the culture and the archaeology of ancient
Macedonia. It aims at presenting an overall image of the region of
Macedonia and the Macedonians, from the early stages of history
until the late Hellenistic period. It is the first Summer School
with that topic to be ever organized and is going to be held at the
International Hellenic University, in Thessaloniki.The aim of this
2-week intensive school is to make the participants both students
and scholars more acquainted with aspects of the history, the
archaeology and life in ancient Macedonia by providing up-to-date
knowledge presented and discussed by the experts of the relevant
fields, and especially new results of the archaeological research
at the various Macedonian sites.The Summer School will take place
in the heart of Macedonia, very close to the sites presented, and
will offer the option of a one-week Archaeological Field Practice
for those who would like to participate in an excavation. It will
also focus on various cultural aspects as well as the Macedonian
dialect.

University Working HoursFor the period of two weeks, the lectures
will take place four hours daily (a total of 40 hours), from Monday
to Friday, at the International Hellenic University, Thessaloniki,
Greece. For a number of students who wish to extend their stay for
another week, the summer school may arrange for them to take part
in an archaeological excavation in the region of Macedonia.
Course CreditsA Certificate of Attendance will be provided at
the end of the programme to all participants who have fulfilled the
course requirements. Students/graduates taking the course for
credit at their home institutions will also have to deliver an
essay paper in order to obtain 5 ECTS credits.
