The University of Macedonia, Economic and Social Sciences, is one of the newest Institutions of Higher Education in Greece, established in 1990 as an outgrowth of the Graduate Industrial School of Thessaloniki established in 1957. Its premises are located in the heart of Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece.

At present, the University of Macedonia has eight departments that deliver eight post-graduate programs and six graduate programs

The total number of students enrolled in all post and graduate programs is 13.828.Students’ enrolment exhibits a very high growth rate over the years. Equally high is staff’s growth. Today it numbers 531 people, from which 235 belong to teaching staff and the rest to administration.
