Being the second largest economy in the world after that of the United States, China's economy is increasing as expected and the hiring environment has continued to maintain an uptrend due to the nation's strong economic growth in 2011. The demand for high end talents continues to increase. However, the Mainland's enterprises are now facing greater challenges under the pressure of inflation and tight monetary policy. The price of energy and raw materials is rising sharply, pushing up production cost for companies. The continually rising price index is a growing challenge for Chinese companies in terms of developing compensation and benefits system. Therefore, employers not only need to attract more talents but also to better retain their own best employees.

香港招募概況The hiring environment in Hong Kong
Employers are more willing to offer existing employees increases in salary as opposed to spending money on the re-hiring process. Employers would rather spend more money on providing on-job training and further development to their current staff. At the same time, they would reduce the working hours and increase the number of day-off of their employees. This would be also affected by the Statutory Minimum Wage which came into force on 1 May 2011. Here are the overviews of major industries:
RetailThere are more International brands opening their flagship stores and setting up a local office in Hong Kong. Together with the increased number of tourists from Mainland China brings along the increased consumers' needs. For front line staff, employers are putting more emphasis on candidates' customer service and language skills as compared to the past. Stability and good personality are also considered when employing staff. For management staff, previous experience especially in managerial level and related fields are required.
Banking In 2011, there was a high level of hiring in this sector after recovering from the economic downturn in order to fill the needs in the market. This sector continues to be one of the fastest growing sectors in 2012 as the hiring activities will be active and it reflects the high expectations of business growth. However, due to the uncertainties from the external environment including economic and financial conditions in US and Europe, this field will grow slowly. Relationship Managers and Sales with existing clients’ portfolio are still in demand.
Information TechnologyA lot of telecommunication and network vendors have developed rapidly in Asia and implementing projects globally. Companies realize that they can only compete by implementing leading edge technology solutions and increasing efficiencies in their business processes. For governments, there is general increasing need and willingness to spend on better infrastructure and more efficient systems. In Asia, general consumers now have increased spending power. They are also more technically savvy and excited by new technologies. Apart from their knowledge and skills on technology, it is more important nowadays that technologists can communicate and understand business needs and translate this into cost justified and innovative solutions that can benefit the company. Employers are prepared to offer a 15% increment on top of the market average salary should a particular candidate is in demand in the market.

招募的活躍程度反映了業務增長的期望。不過由於受到外來的不明

台灣招募概況The hiring environment in Taiwan
By any measure, Taiwan has been weathering the global economic downturn better than expected. The economy is going forward with optimism over the continued improvement of relations between Taiwan and China, and in particular, the signing of the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement in 2010 allowing direct flights between Taiwan and China. These are aimed at further facilitating trade and business ties .The unemployment rate has an impressive improvement over just two years. Here are the overviews of major industries:
Information TechnologyEnterprise will pay more attention on Wire/Wireless Security and Digital Right Management issues, and put more resources to implement Enterprise-Cloud Technology to enhance the efficiency or disaster recovering purpose. In addition, consumer-oriented enterprise would like to reinforce the interaction on diversified Web Social Community and to develop Web-based software application.
Engineering & TechnicalEmbedded and Java Software Engineers are getting popular in 2012 due to diversified applications such as Portable device, Smart TV, Home Appliance, etc. Semiconductor sector is pursuing new material for technology upgrade or cost saving. Thus metal material and specialty chemical will be the highlights in 2012.
Finance and Accounting/BankingThe salary of corporate finance and accounting segment is generally increasing due to the better profit of enterprises in 2011. Job changing is more active on the market, mainly for middle and junior level positions. More top talents chose to work in China due to the higher salary increment and larger job scope as compared to Taiwan.
Sales and Marketing/OfficeMore small multinational corporations (less than 30 employees) set up Taiwan branches and hire representatives to develop business in Taiwan. They prefer young talents with 10 to 15 years experience instead of highly experienced candidates (over 15 years). In addition, companies from China are interested in Taiwan talents for sales and marketing positions in some industries since there are talent shortages in China.
