2011 Youth Camp Fruitage IN THEIR OWN WORDS • The best part of camp was the opportunity to use Christian Science around others who understand where I’m coming from. – Nicholas • On the last day of our 3 day trip I woke up feeling sick, but I talked to my counselor who was awesome. She helped me realize the truth about who I really am, and immediately I was better. – Emily • I had a scrap on my knee and prayed about it, and it was healed! – Jordan • Camp has an amazing atmosphere. I enjoyed having lesson study in the morning. – Jacob MOUNTAIN “…a step more spiritual” A NOTE FROM ALISON PETICOLAS, RANCH DIRECTOR Ranch Program Dates T his summer’s metaphysical theme is “Every step of progress is a step more spiritual.” (People’s Idea of God) For me, it speaks to what meaningful camp activities are all about. Camp is a cherished place to experience progress in so many areas of our life, providing an environment rich with opportunities for growth. During camp sessions, we see progress in so many ways – when a Corral Camper learns to canter, a Mountaineer peaks his first 14er, a Rafter calls her first rapid or a Challenger catches the “Leap of Faith” bar for the first time. Each of these experiences is a landmark in a camper’s experience – an important step in their development. While these experiences are the evidence of new techniques and skills mastered, the underlying triumph is spiritual growth - the true focus of camp. Activities at camp turn us to God in ways that challenge us to feel a closer connection to Him and to gain a clearer understanding of the true source of our strength, grace and endurance. When time at camp is focused on identifying new ways to apply our understanding of Christian Science, such progress extends into every aspect of our lives – at camp and at home. When “a step more spiritual” is our aim, the steps of progress can’t help but follow. We look forward to having you join us for many steps of progress this summer!
