Presentation by Heidi VerheulSierra Club Canada Atlantic Chapter

Agenda
• (5 min) Introduction• (25 min) CBC’s Land & Sea “NB Gas” • (30 min) What is happening in NS? • (30 min) Discussion
• (30 min) What do we do about it?
Why the Concern?
1. This waste is toxic and potentially radioactive.
2. If NS is conducting a review on hydraulic fracturing, why are we accepting waste from this industry from other provinces?
3. The risks associated with hydraulicfracturing are real and based on science.

Sierra Club Canada Atlantic Chapter’s Position
Investment in energy conservation, sustainable transportation options, and community based renewable energy sources moving towards a sustainablehealthy economy.
Nova Scotia should stop handling hydraulic fracturing waste from New Brunswick (and elsewhere).
Many Questions, Few Answers, & Lots of Discussion
