Objectives of the Workshop
The objectives are
Identify and document the required Business Interoperability Interfaces related to Pan-European electronic transactions in public procurement and document them as a set of technical specifications
The UN/CEFACT standards are taken into account in order to ensure global interoperability
Provide support to pilot projects implementing the technical specifications in order to remove technical barriers preventing interoperability (specifically the PEPPOL project)
The starting point for the workshop were the NES and CODICE customizations of OASIS Universal Business Language 2.0

Profile: Message Content and Business Process Profiles typically used in public procurement A Profile commits two Business Partners by specifying how they implement electronic messaging support for one or more Business Process(es). A Profile further specifies one or more Business Rules Benefit: Well designed and best practice based specifications of e-procurement workflows Profiles cover: Publication, Tendering, Sourcing, Ordering and Billing and support transactions

The Next Generation of electronic business document exchange
CEN BII provides CWA’s that when implemented will increase the level of interoperability between systems that rely on the UBL and CEFACT business document standards.
CEN BII has also addressed issues related to implementation and the testing of implementations.
Organized use of the CEN BII CWA is being tested by PEPPOL
The CEN BII WS is providing the next generation platform for electronic business document exchange.
