#1 ‘To Thine Own Self Be True’

• My mother is a very wise woman and learned to apply the knowledge for life success in many areas while I was growing up. One day, I told her, “mom I’m going to be married at the latest, when I’m 29.” I was probable 8, or 9 when I said that. I even pointed on the calendar, while flipping through the many years until 2006 when I was saying it to her. I don’t know what came over me, but I was just realizing some of the values I could see.

• In the future, past this year, mom very wisely, said to me…”Son, in order to have a successful marriage, it would be best that you use this saying ‘To thine own self be true’. It was a biblical passage, but in the 1st book of Delilah McGill(that’s mom’s name).

• What was she saying there? it was that I need to know what I like, what I want, what I don’t like and what I don’t want. This is in general and some detail. I needed to know me, so I could respond correctly to my future wife in hard and easy situations to make the hard and detailed decisions for our marriage and life success.

• So…’to thine own self be true’

Marriage and Family Tip that can help your Life Success#2 The Map can sometimes be wrong

• Numerous times on Kim and my family vacations, we use the GPS on our phones. We’ve been using it for years, from our early days of Verizon Wireless (2006) to now a days with iPhone, etc. There were a couple of times though, that we didn’t know where we were.

• Can you imagine? Vacationing in a different part of the world, or different part of the country and the GPS was WRONG? Oh my goodness. Well it happened to us. I guess when you go on enough vacations, it’s bound to happen, but…..

• My pet peeve is using some sort of map to get where I know I want to go and because the map is wrong, there’s no way I can get there. I spent the time, money; invested in resources, emotion, etc. to know where I want to go, but…..the map it wrong.

• That can really ruin the day, but if you have you partner with you…everything is gonna be O.K. In a marriage, first you gotta know where you wanna go and then have the support of your wife, or husband to be able to get there.

• Life success journey is knowing where you’re going(if not..find out) and develop the trust of your spouse and family by your commitment to them and all of your life success.

Life Success is a journey…through life, successfully; not perfectly. There is a scripture in the Christian bible that

says, “…know the truth and the truth will ‘make’ you free” and another that says,”…wisdom is the principle

thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding” (John 8:32 and Proverbs 4:7)
