Tuesday, March 10th at 7pm
Lent is a wonderful time to celebrate the reconciling love and the healing graces our Lord offers us. Reconciliation is what God does. Receiving it and celebrating it is what we do. Roger along with Fr. Scott, Fr. Frank, Fr. Stephen Basarab, Fr. Alfredo and Fr. Mel.

Lent Is Upon Us
Lent is quickly approaching and so it is important to be
reminded of the laws concerning fasting and abstinence. These
laws are not there as impositions, but rather are a gift of the
Church that encourages us all to celebrate particular seasons
together as the Body of Christ. Ash Wednesday and Good
Friday are, in Canada, days of fasting and abstinence.
Fasting is to be observed by all 18 years of age and older, who
have not yet celebrated their 59th birthday. On a fast day one
full meal is allowed. Two other meals, sufficient to maintain
strength, may be taken according to each one's needs, but
together they should not equal another full meal. Eating
between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk
and juices, are allowed.
Abstinence is observed by all 14 years of age and older. On
days of abstinence no meat is allowed. Note that when health
or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does
not oblige. When in doubt concerning fast and abstinence, the
parish priest can be consulted. Ash Wednesday, February 26
and Good Friday, April 10, are days of fasting and abstinence.
Fasting, almsgiving, and prayer are the three traditional
disciplines of Lent. The faithful and catechumens should
undertake these practices seriously in a spirit of penance and
of preparation.
Please see Bishop Gary’s attached letter regarding Share Lent and supporting those in the Amazon and the Global South. Their stories and other info can be found here:
The Amazon and its people are under threat; deforestation, resource extraction and communities at risk. Becoming aware is the first step towards protection of the Amazon and saving our ecological future.

If you have been to a potluck recently and had so much fun
that you went home without your dishes, you may need to come to the hall kitchen and have a look around. It would be helpful to thin out the stacks
that are filling up our cupboards and counters.
