Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church As a parish of the Catholic Diocese of Charleston, Our Lady of Grace seeks to know and share God’s Word, live as a community of Christian disciples, devoutly celebrate the Holy Mass and other sacraments, provide a prayerful environment for all people, and serve the poor and those in need in Christ’s Name. In this way of life, Our Lady of Grace Parish looks to Mary of Nazareth as its model and patron.
We have begun our Lenten journey. The Church gives us this penitential season to prepare for the celebration of our Lord’s Paschal Mystery, namely, his Passion, Death, and Resurrection. Please note the additional devotionals offered by the parish. Be sure to use your Lent well.
Last Sunday, we had a wonderful Mardi Gras. Over 300 people of all ages participated in the fun! Thank you to everyone who came and to all those who worked so hard to make it such great event!
Later this past week, myself and a delegation from our parish went to Baltimore to attend the Mid-Atlantic Congress (MAC) on evangelization and catechetics. Over 1,800 leaders from throughout the United States were involved in the event. It was a time to collect ideas, discuss programs, learn, share, and bring a lot of helpful things home to Indian Land. I’m grateful to the anonymous donor who made this staff development possible!
After our group returned home from Baltimore, I headed to Sarasota, Florida, to give a Parish Mission on the Beatitudes. Greetings from the Sunshine State! I’ll be in Florida until Wednesday evening (February 21). I look forward to returning home, and to celebrating a Funeral Mass for one of our veterans on February 22.
This weekend and early this week, we have guest priests. I’m grateful for Father Matlak and Father Hansen for covering Confessions and the Masses!
Next Sunday, we have our first Ministries Fair for the parish. Please plan on stopping by the Parish Hall after Mass and seeing all the opportunities for service here at Our Lady of Grace!
Please note that on Tuesday, February 27, we will have our next round of Parish Town Hall meetings. At these meetings, we will discuss pressing matters that will directly relate to our future as a parish. Please make every effort to attend one of the two sessions. Please see the ad in this bulletin for more information.
On March 3-7, we’ll welcome Father Hickey back to Indian Land for our Lenten Mission. You might recall that Father has visited us in the past. He was a former Protestant minister who “read himself into the Catholic Church.” He left everything and joined the Church. Afterwards, he sought ordination as a priest. We are very happy to welcome him back! Please see the ad in this bulletin for more information.
More updates next week! Let us pray for one another.
