Khon Kaen University Graduate students are required to take Academic English Language Test (KKU-AELT) for enrollment in Graduate School of Khon Kaen University and to pass graduation requirement. The test details are as follow: 1. The test lasts 3 hours and consists of 2 parts; Part I: Reading (2 hours) and Part II: Writing (1 hour).
2. Passing Criteria

- Master’s Degree: Band 3 (41 points)
- Doctor’s Degree: Band 4 (61 points)
- Master’s Degree: Band 3 (41 points)
- Doctor’s Degree: Band 4 (61 points)
Remark If not pass the test, students will be required to enroll in English course of students’ appropriate band. 3. Register online and print out the pay slip at https://hs.kku.ac.th/englishservices. 4. Payment can be made at any branch of Siam Commercial Bank (SCB). The registration fee is 600 Bath. 5. Test result will be downloaded from website.

Can understand in detail lengthy, complex texts, whether or not they

(41-60)
Can read with a large degree of independence, adapting style and
speed of reading to different texts and purposes, and using appropriate
reference sources selectively. Has a broad active reading vocabulary, but
may experience some diffi culty with low-frequency idioms.
Band 2
(21-40)
Can read straightforward factual texts on subjects related to his/her fi eld
and interest with a satisfactory level of comprehension.
Band 1
(0-20)
Can understand short, simple texts on familiar matters of a concrete
type which consist of high frequency everyday or job-related language.
Can understand short, simple texts containing the highest frequency
vocabulary, including a proportion of shared international vocabulary
items.

and complexity. There are almost no errors. The content is relevant and
includes almost all major points. Can elaborate on key points. Displays very
good coherence and fl ow of ideas. Paragraph structure is clear and effective.
Band 4
(61-80)
Displays vareity in vocabulary usage, and displays mostly accurate grammar
usage with only minor errors. Content includes most of the main points, but
some points may lack clarity. Shows good paragraph unity and coherence.
Displays clear paragraph structure, but some ideas do not fl ow.
Band 3
(41-60)
Has moderate range of vocabulary and grammatical accuracy. Displays
questionable choice of words, and grammatical errors are apparent. Content
includes some main points but may lack elaboration. Displays a certain level
of coherence. There is clear paragraph structure, but ideas may not always
fl ow.
Band 2
(21-40)
Has limited use of language. Displays consistent linguistic errors which may
distort meaning. Content is not pertinent to the topic. Key points are absent.
Paragraph structure is ambiguous.
Band 1

Has limited range of vocabulary and grammar usage. Displays consistant
major linguisitc errors. Content is not related to the assigned topic, or is very
