PROCESS

• Engage all stakeholders in the project process. • Provide a range of options for optimal strategies. !LONG RANGE CAMPUS PLAN

• All strategies will support the LRCP 1.0 and preceding strategic reports. • Design for the needs of the students. • Leverage 100 McAllister for potential revenue-generating opportunities. • Increase student life and activity at 200 McAllister, and in particular the ground floor. Improve

first impressions of the campus.

GUIDING PRINCIPLESREVIEW

CLINICS, CENTERS, AND JOURNALS PROGRAMS

• Design to serve the mission(s), teachings, services, and scholarship of each clinic, center, and journal.

• Serve the needs of both the individuals and the group for all programs. • Integrate programs into the intellectual life of the students and the College. • Provide opportunities for students and practitioners to work together and collaborate. • Maintain and strengthen the unique identity and brand of each program. • Maintain and improve the operations and physical relationships for each clinic, center, and

journal, as well as the inter-relationships between programs. • Design with flexibility in mind – grants and funding swings often cause staff fluctuation. • Design with clients in mind, which considers confidentiality and accessibility. • Remain cutting-edge and innovative with regard to tools and technology in order to remain

competitive. • Design with the consideration of economies of scale by maximizing staffing spaces and

developing common area spaces for similar or overlapping programs. • Improve wayfinding and path of travel to the clinics, centers, and journals. Make them easily

accessible to the broader community. • Ensure the security of students, faculty, staff, and the clinics, centers, and journals. • Employ sustainable design by considering the use of natural light, material choices, and

furniture selection. • Preserve the window line for shared and multi-functional space.

BOUNDARIESREVIEW

MOVE-OUT

• Relocate all programs in the 3rd, 4th, 22nd, and 23rd floor of 100 McAllister to 200 McAllister. • Consider the relocation of Health Services to a more private location on campus.

MOVE-IN

• Potential 200 McAllister relocation sites: 1st floor; 2nd floor health clinic; 4th and/or 6th floor library).

• Minimize cost of renovation and avoid changes that necessitate major changes to building systems.

• Preserve to the maximum extent possible previous investments in physical plant improvements.

• Preserve or increase the amount of student study space and classrooms on campus. • Preserve the special collections archive located on the 6th floor of 200 McAllister . • Maintain the amount of private faculty offices located on the 6th floor of 200 McAllister . • Journals must have 24 hour access. • Prioritize approaches and projects that minimize construction period disruptions to ongoing

academic operations. • All relocated programs will be moved in no later than January 2016.

SPACE BLOCKINGFIVE SCENARIO OVERVIEW

16

OPTIMAL C.O.M. INTEGRATION (SCENARIOS 1 + 2)

• These scenarios prioritize the most direct translation of the Finalized Conceptual Organizational Model when blocking out programs onto the built constraints of the 1st and 6th floors of 200 McAllister.

!MAXIMUM PROGRAMMATIC FLEXIBILITY (SCENARIOS 3 + 4)

• The goal of these scenarios is to maximize the flexibility of the programs located on the 6th floor of 200 McAllister, while still adhering to the COM. By avoiding the placement of any larger program space (e.g. Clinics, Centers, and Journals) on an island between permanent spaces (e.g. classrooms). These scenarios ensure that there is room to expand and contract as necessary.

!WORKING AROUND EXISTING CONDITIONS (SCENARIO 5)

• This scenario looks to utilize existing infrastructures as much as possible, while still adhering to the COM.
