    Welcome and Introductions

    Rosy Pope welcomed everyone to the meeting. She said she is chairing this meetingas the Lead Director for people with Learning Disabilities for the Association ofDirectors (ADASS) in Yorkshire and Humber.

    Everyone introduced themselves.

    This meeting was about:

    Sharing ideas and good ways of working on employment and getting a job fromlocal areas and across the country

    Look at how local areas can help people get jobs

    Share updates on other national and regional work

    What has happened since the last meeting?

    Sam shared a sheet that shows some updates on what has happened since themeeting in March. If anyone wants a paper copy of the reportsjust tell us and we willsend them in the post.

    The meeting in March talked about different ways of checking how things are working.

    Since then the big report on the Joint Health and Social Care Self - Assessment hascome out. This says what everyone across the country scored on the different bits.

    What is working well to help people get jobs

    What is getting in the way?

    You can see everything people said at the end of these notes but here are the bigthings that people said could help them

    Finding paid work not only chances to be a volunteer

    Getting a job the guide for families and how it is working

    Dave Barker talked about the Getting a job guide for families.

    Dave also showed a film about his son Matthews job and talked about how that worksfor Matthew.

    How we work together at Care 4 All

    Sean Brown talked about how Care4All runs different enterprises including a holidaychalet and a caf in North East Lincolnshire which employs people with learning

    disabilities. Care 4 All actively try to employ disabled people in their work.

    What is important to work on in our areaActionsthis is what everyone said they will go away and do after today

    Wakefield Learning Disability Partnership Board reps (Andy and Rowy) to find out list ofpeople to be able to contact for up to date information on how being in paidemployment will effect benefits.

    Explore local provision for finding work.

    Ask Wakefield what is the present situation regarding their undertaking to offer

    employment to a small number of people with learning disabilities.

    Change are looking for new volunteers with learning disabilities to deliver training andmake information accessibleWe will advertise this widely!

    Link our individual websites up to other regional services/Inclusion North.

    Follow up on info around social Enterprise/Self-employment. (Nancyreal)

    Make sure that if you have a learning disability you get the right support at the jobcentreask for a Disability Employment Advisor. (Marsha)

    Make sure that Getting a Job book is shared with Learning Disability Partnership Boardand other relevant groupsconsider inviting Dave to a meeting with self-advocates,family carers etc. (RuthBarnsley)

    Gather info on Local Enterprise Partnerships and share this with relevant professionals.(DMBC)

    Change will work with other companies and organisations to make their workplaces andinformation more accessible.

    Change will work with schools to teach children about Hate Crime and also give peer-to-peer support to children with disabilities to give them confidence and break downbarriers.

    Suggest North Yorkshire Partnership Board develops Community Mapping of thesupported employment services, local enterprise partnerships (LEPS), socialenterprises, local and regional resourcesin Easy Read!

    Feedback information to the next Partnership Board meeting. Share the learning wehave done today and suggest we invite Dave to a future Partnership Board. (NorthYorkshire)

    We will ask our DWP Partnership manager about paid work and benefits and feed backto Sam.

    Eric to feedback to our Partnership Board from todays meeting and discuss how to getmore people working in Hull.

    Care4All will continue to employ more and more people with disabilities and raise

    awareness.

    What we want to know more about

    Local and regional opportunities/resources and service providers

    Social and employment opportunities for adults with learning disabilities who liveindependently without supportHow do you know what is out there?

    Can we tie info in with transitions work?

    Employments guide to schools, careers advice and special schools

    Choices between career path and further education

    More opportunities for peer to peer support

    Should be apprenticeships aimed at older people, not just young adults

    Tie in with 16-24s in education, work with younger from 16.

    More information on how being in employment will affect my benefits

    Good practice: Special school gives students info/support on careers etc, youngerchildren learning from older children.

    Interview practice and application practice/support would be helpful.

    Job coaches needed for people when in employment as and when needed. (Wakefield)

    Confusion on wages affecting benefits. Where do we get information from? What do wedo with that information? Staff need training

    sanctions, changes in welfare reform. Transporttraining scheme/costs, travel opportunities

    Inclusion North have made a short guide to the resources and projects to help peopleget involved in voting and understand political systems.

    In the autumn Inclusion North will be running a session for self-advocates on voting andpolitical involvement of people with a learning disability, to use their vote and influencewhat happens at a local and national level.

    Mencap supporting people with paid employment (Wakefield)

    Strong business planvolunteers
