• UN/CEFACT Priority Projects• Market driven/Stakeholder requirements

• Resources - Human & Financial• Human - Right skill sets to match priority tasks• Financial - UN/CEFACT needs funding

• Improve Forum meeting logistics• Capacity Building Programme

• Based on what UN/CEFACT can deliver

Page 15: 13 th UN/CEFACT Plenary Geneva, 14-16 May 2007

14 May 2007 13th UN/CEFACT Plenary 15

Future ChallengesFuture Challenges

The UNECE Executive Committee will review in October 2007:

• All PG Mandates & TORs which terminate in 2007• Under UN rules, there are no Permanent Groups • PGs can be extended for two years at a time• To obtain extensions each PG will have to provide

serious justification• This means that each PG will have to show its POW,

what it has achieved in terms of deliverables, future plans & deliverables over the next two years.UN/CEFACT will have to report back every year.

UN/CEFACT RegistryPoC findings

UN/CEFACT RegistryPoC findings

• The overall Registry metamodel is capable of handling current UN/CEFACT requirements

• Registry federation is still in a primitive state

• Level of granularity for the management of discrete Registry artefacts (e.g. down to the basic attribute) can increase complexity of implementation

• Registry artefacts can be suitably governed by a classification scheme

• Several concurrent classification schemes can be applied

• The discovery process of Registry content is adequately defined

• The Registry user interface / connector approach was satisfactory

Legal Group purposeLegal Group purpose

• The purpose of the Legal Group (LG) is to ensure that the legal aspects of electronic business and international trade facilitation are considered in the work of the UN/CEFACT. To this end the Legal Group analyses current legal processes and issues within the mission and objectives of UN/CEFACT, identifies legal constraints that adversely affect the mission and objectives of the Centre, and proposes practical improvements to these legal processes and issues.
