What a wonderful day of celebration and it seemed that everyone really enjoyed themselves. People have made reference to the warmth and friendship which prevailed throughout the day and I have to say that I would agree with all of that too. As a Benefice, we know each other well and have worked together now for the past 10 years and will continue to do so the for the foreseeable future. I hope and pray that we can continue to support one another in this way and demonstrate that, despite differences, the Kingdom of God is what truly matters. This is not the end of our Anniversary celebrations. A number of events and occasions are planned and so please do take note of the publicity that is being circulated. You don't want to miss anything! May I also take this opportunity to thank you all for the enormous generosity extended to me and Jean after the service. It was more than a shock to be considered in this way and I thank everyone concerned (not least of all those who prepared the card and my Poem!). It was certainly not part of my planning and I have felt most humbled by it all. It also leads me to say how grateful I am for the support we, as a family, have received from so many of you following my Father's death. Thank you, it has been much valued. Details concerning Her Majesty the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations will be reaching you very soon too. All of the villages will be celebrating in their own way and the churches of the Benefice will be at the very centre of all that takes place. I am grateful to those involved in the organising of the events. Celebration is important and much a part of the fabric of our lives. Join me in a few weeks when we celebrate the most important life- changing event of all time, the resurrection of our Lord on Easter Sunday. May I wish you all a very happy and holy Easter. Summer Lectures

"Church, State and Us!"(To celebrate 10 years as a Benefice together)

A special series of talks enabling us all to reflect on how the church, nationally and locally, engages with society, particularly in this year of celebration.

17th May - "The Church" At Teston with The Revd Ronni Lamont. Ronni is now a freelance ordained priest, working in all areas of ministry but with a particular interest in children's spirituality and needs. She is a prolific writer, speaker, producer, broadcaster and also manages a large School Assembly Website. Ronni will be most interesting, challenging and entertaining! Hear what she has to speak of regarding the church of today and where it is going in the future.

31st May - "The State"At East Malling with The Revd Rose Hudson-Wilkin. Rose was born in Jamaica and has acquired a high profile within the Church of England as the chaplain to The Queen and the Speaker of the House of Commons. Her role is at the very heart of Church/State relationships. We are incredibly fortunate to have Rose join us as a speaker for this series of Summer Lectures. Don't miss her!

14th June - "Us" At Wateringbury with The Revd Jim Brown. Father Jim will use this as an opportunity to reflect on the past 10 years as a Benefice and the shape of things to come as we continue to minister and share the good news of the Kingdom to all those living and working in East Malling, Wateringbury and Teston. Just what is the challenge?
